Try it if you want, I found it to be totaly overrated.. for me a good JRPG is mostly about the story, characters and the game-world.. but the strenghts of Grandia II lie completely in its game-system.. leveling, fighting, skill-system etc..
Not sure how it still hold up by todays standarts, but back in the days it was among the best JRPG-Systems, but with a boring story, silly characters and uninspired locations.

Well rarely the game mechanics is what draws me in with a JRPG, like Final Fantasy Tactics, I am more interested in the story told, so maybe a bit disappointing to hear.

It's always nice to see JRPGs on steam, as long as the price is alright I don't have any problems with them and if the port is decent.

The 2 first reviews are negative. I can't see them though so I have no idea why.

EDIT: from what I see in the forums, the game is not working at all at the moment

Nice! Already have it on Dreamcast & PS2 but tempted to buy again. Just curious what the two negative reviews that I can't view have to say...

EDIT: Looking in the discussions it appears people were unable to launch the game, which was fixed minutes ago :)

I haven't played Grandia games before but I did hear they're pretty good.

Unfortunately with 20€ (15€ currently at -25%) price tag there's no way I'll buy it.

Reviews posted 5 minutes after a game launches are TOTALLY legit.

Grandia came to Steam because the company ran a poll several months ago asking which of their games fans wanted on Steam, Grandia II won that poll, so here it is! I'd have much preferred Lunar, but perhaps is Grandia II does well enough they'll do another poll or bring more to Steam anyway.

I plan to pick this up when I can, as it's the only game in the Grandia series I have not played. I have Grandia I on my Vita, Grandia III for PS3, and Grandia Xtreme for PS2.

What's with the game description? Says beloved from the 32bit era. That was Grandia 1 not 2

The Dreamcast had a 32-bit CPU, so technically its from the 32-bit era.

I loved the dark tone to this game's story, the big attacks magic attacks and techniques and large life bars that you take huge chunks off later on. The 3d graphics aren't as beautiful and colorful as the 1st game's but it seemed pretty solid in terms of gameplay. It feels like a bit of a grind with the later stages that seem to go on and on forever, but by that time it gets interesting in terms of which people are being possessed by parts of Valmar. I'll be interested to see what anniversary edition means, don't think there's any content added apart from the extra difficulty mode. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do anything with my dreamcast save data, don't know what that feature means.

It's a great RPG but 15€... It's a little expensive with only english and japanese... hesitation
Strangely if it was grandia 1 with my language subtitles it would have been 15€ instant buy ! :o

I bought Grandia II when it was sold for 5€ as a budget title here. Now they ask for 20€ around 10 years later... something just doesn't add up :s

Yeah the price is what is keeping me from getting it since I've wanted to try this series, but not if it's this much.

It's DRM free on GOG. That's where I'll get it! (Shame HB don't have their DRM-free plus steam key for this one though).

I already have the original version on PC, though who knows where I stuck the discs.

Shame the later titles were on region locked systems. Never got to find them.
