New Vegas is 10 times better, with mods even more so, get Project Nevada and some weapon add-ons.

Call of Duty is the right game series for you.

if sprinting is that important to you: there exists a sprint mod. and there probably exists a mod for every other thing you dislike in fallout.

Go install some mods. I'd recommend WMX, sprint, and Ironsight mod for FO3, can't remember the rest...
Anyway for me lack of good weapons in early of game is immersive and challenging. You don't always have to use VAST. FO3 is atmospherically good, although the story is very lacking comparing to New Vegas.

Are both games much different? Definitely. New Vegas has improved gameplay mechanics and interesting quests. However if you find travelling in Capital Wasteland is boring then I can't guarantee you'll enjoy Mojave...

Personally I liked New Vegas better. Cool atmosphere, lots of freedom to just do jobs and stuff in the world. And some amazing mods. Get Project Nevada, New Vegas Bounties, some sort of ENB to make it look better, and any other interesting mods. With a console command you can reveal all the map locations and just fast travel since that's apparently an issue.

I liked both Fallout games (recent ones that is) though less than a lot of people. They're not the most "fun" per se. But they're great worlds full of interesting stories and the ability to role play just about whatever character you like. Which I appreciate.

Yes, forget what people say, NV is completely different. I, for example, also hate Fallout 3 but really like Fallout New Vegas. Just remember to get the right mods and you will be fine.

For sound, you can open your Pitboy and put the radio on. I only use VATS when something is very far away, or multiple mobs are chasing me, don't need to other than that. And you're bound to find scarcity in ammunition/weapons and weapons being broken, it's a post-fallout event. Also later on you get more weapons/search around, there's a Sniper in a hollow rock right outside the first town. It isn't much of a CoD/BF 360 no scope, I'm godlike with all my bullets and stuff. Scavenge around some you'll find items.

Tho I do like New Vegas more than 3 because of the mods (there is a sprint mod for both) and story/landscape wise.

I am big fan of Fallout series, and Fallout 3 was my first fallout game. It still best for me. Fallout NV is much better in game design, game mechanics, world interactivity and many others, but i dislike it's setting. So, for me, Fallout 3 and Fallout 1 are the best games in series, because of setting (a lot of high tech objects, military bases and bunkers). What i hate in Fallout 2 and NV? Prostitutes, casino, junky, saloons and others like this. I want high tech military-based and ruined post-apocalypse.

I disliked fallout 3 to such an extent I vowed to never play fallout again, but then I played new vegas and absolutely loved it. It's much better in my opinion and definitely worth the £2.50 or whatever I paid when it was on sale.

If you dont like Fallout 3 at all dont waste your time with New Vegas it may be better but game mechanics are same.

Fallout: NV is much better than Fallout 3

Fallout 3 is good, you just need to get used to it.

Also the VATS, i never had a clue what the hell that thing was untill i got to near end game the first time (spoilers: when your "father" dies locked up with the enemy), and when i play it, i usually only use VATS for critical situations, like crowds of enemies popping at once in your face or something serious like a Deathclaw about to rip your faceskin apart.

The game's storyline will give you better gear as you explore throughout the areas marked in the map, you can find even better gear if you explore all areas and find the secret items scattered throughout the map.

And for last, Fallout 3 imo had a better approach to what a post-apocalyptic themed game would be, NV made some gameplay improvements but the storyline is a bit dull. Basically i would say F3 = storyline, visuals and more interisting adventuring or sense of exploring while NV is all about gameplay improvement while dropping the score on the other ones. When it comes to DLC, both of the games are good at it, F3 dlc's were interisting and good, same goes with NV's. Perhaps NV is slightly better towards the dlc side too, but both are great.

Fallout 3 is a pice of shit, don`t bother, specially when you get to the end of the game you will want to punch your PC for one of the worst and stupidest endings.

On the other hand New Vegas is quite fun, much more fun, but is full of bugs and some mechanics i really desliked.

In short, similar games but New Vegas has better writting and the DLC Old World Blues i very good.

You're probably looking for something more fast paced, like CoD. Skip New Vegas, as it's more or less the same.

Well, the only bad thing so far about FO3 is that you can't Alt-Tab and that GFWl takes ages to load.

Wow... not the brightest star in the galaxy are we? I'm not going to waste my time telling you what's jacked up about your views and opinions, or how you are wrong on many levels about things you have said about the game. It's just a pointless endeavor. Honestly, if you think Fallout 3 is that bad, you don't deserve to play the game. New Vegas is not as good, but I have a feeling you would like it much better.

Unless you're a troll, I'd recommend Call of Duty or Battlefield! We Fallout fans wouldn't want you returning a few days from now only to bash New Vegas just because you couldn't explore a little!
