It happens from time to time due to something on Valve's end and it usually fixes itself soon. I have also just been crowned as the next president of Mozambique (only one of these two sentences is true).

I say we block links to Steam in retaliation. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ヾ( ͝° ͜ʖ͡°)ノ♪ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ °) ( ͡o ͜ʖ ͡o) (ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง

You know, ironically Volvo would understand and deal with that case better than Valve.

we can, but the thing is that we get less new users this way. A lot of ppl (me included) registered to SG because they saw some GA link, clicked it and created an account. If I saw SG/giveaway/n4JhL/ I wouldn't know what to do with it and would just move on.

Well... at least is nice to see it was not just me

Breaking additional plot twist: Gaben VAC banned the Illuminati. Their protests fell on deaf ears.

I emailed Gabe, he should get back to me shortly and all will be fine.

Right, although my email address is unrelated to my username here. Hopefully he'll come visit the website to see if my sayings are true, and he'll see my comments here. Then he'll know I'm a Dragon undercover as a user pretending to be a secret agent.

Website URL's are manually added to the blacklist by community moderators. I asked one of them via reddit awhile back about why they were link blocking Nuuvem, and he told me that was how it happens.
Some Steam community mod added it SG to the URL blacklist.

Well, links being deleted from Steam chat feels like BSOD at the wrong time.

Another method, this one allows clickable links:
[url=http://www.steamgifts%2Ecom/giveaway/5NsMP/you-are-not-a-banana]www steamgifts com/giveaway/5NsMP/you-are-not-a-banana[/url]
Note the %2E to replace the period before "com" in the first part of the URL tag and the spaces instead of periods in www steamgifts com
in the second part of the URL tag. Also note the absence of http:// in the second part of the URL tag.
The %2E is a form of ASCII encoding to change the period into an ASCII code that the browser can change back into a period when the link is loaded.

I use obfuscated protocol to go around the filter and it works. It may or may not give a clickable link, but it gives a link that is clearly usable in web browser, so when you receive such link from your friend and clicking doesn't work, you can still copy the url without protocol and paste it into your browser and it will still work.

Well, what I mean is basically replacing http or https with something else or even shortening it to p:// (http) or s:// (https), friends dont have problem receiving such links from me and they already know how to deal with them. Sorry if my previous post was confusing.
EDIT: I haven't sent any links in days so I can't guarantee that this method still works, but it's worth to try, I guess.
