These games aren't exactly cozy, but they have cozy moments, and the LGBTQ+ depictions are wholesome in my humble opinion:
Speed Dating for Ghosts - A thoughtful vn about life (and the afterlife) from different perspectives. It's funny, heartwarming, sad, touching. The dialogue seemed very natural. You can date any ghost, and it's worth dating them all.
Sorcery! series - There are 4 chapters total. LGBTQ+ content is mostly in 3&4. It's a fantasy choose your own adventure booked adapted into a game. The world is imaginative, and you're given spells that make for creative approaches to it. It's fun and dangerous. A couple of story events and romances are gender-locked, but most aren't.

Sorcery! makes me nostalgic for the time I was saving up on my allowance to buy those CYOA books. Especially the fantasy ones.
A prelude to actual table top RPG gaming once I found my tribe.
They were cool but they didn't have much romance and very definitely not of the open-minded kind when there was any.
Looks like a cool one.
Speed Dating Ghosts reminds me of Monster Prom

Table top gaming looks fun! I’m glad those books opened up a new hobby for you. You might enjoy text games from the interactive fiction database if you haven’t already tried them. Most are free and can be played on mobile or pc. I haven’t played enough to suggest ones with LGBTQ+ content, although I’ve read that 80 Days has it. It’s also on steam.
Speed Dating for Ghosts is more meditative than Monster Prom, which is pretty high energy and has some gameplay on top of being a visual novel. But they’re both humorous :)

Never have but I definitely will now. The internet really is a wonderful place at times.
Thanks for the link :)

Haha yep high energy for sure!

I haven’t read the original books (hope to), but in the game, you can play as a man or woman and have both men and women show interest in your character. The main romance option is a man though, who appears in more than one game/book. Others are limited to one game and might just be a brief reference. The focus is more on adventuring than romance, but it’s there.

I don't remember 1&2 as well (spoilers):
Meeting Flanker in 1&2 is the beginning of an optional romance that progresses in 3&4, for either gender. I played as a woman, and these women were interested in her: A cook maid in 4, a fortune-teller in 3&4 (Elthera?)
Those are the ones I know for sure. This reddit thread lists some more that I'm not sure about- a guide, festival goer, werewolf, Alianna. I'll edit my post to specify that 3&4 are the ones that contain lgbtq+ content. Thanks for pointing that out, I'm forgetful.

Thanks for the list I wasn't expecting Alianna to be in there (kinda a waifu from my teen years lol) :D Dunno if she'll be interested in a female MC or how it would matter in the long run considering she's just a minor character but it's something to look forwad to :)

Just dropping a warm recommendation for Across the Grooves (thanks Foxy (•‿•))
I wasn't sure what to expect but I was surprised by how very much drawn I was into the story.
The writing is excellent and, while there are romantic interests and some of the story is based in that, it's above all a story about identity and the interconnection of lives through random encounters, friendships and of course love.
I won't spoil it but it's definitely one of the best VN I have played (and I'm not very much into the genre as a whole) so give it a try if you have the chance.

Anyone thirsty for some demos for LGBTQ+ tagged games?
Queer Quest: All in a Gay's Work
The Crush House
Just a word of warning. Crush House looks rather tame for a game about producing a reality tv show but Queer Quest is very NSFW.
Not sure how much the demo has in terms of mature themes but the trailer and Steam page seems to indicate the game is going all out so mind your screens at work ;)

sorry, I didn't mean to forget to bring some goodies.
Edit: Finding LGBTQIA+ games is a struggle, steam store itself just keeps bugging out, OR all it's suggesting is straight up (lol) hentai or porn games, other than that it's problematic to find steam keys with no region locks.
Edit 2: Oops, let's crush

There is a very short review of The Crush House from last August up at the Gayming Magazine, in case someone want to take a look before entering.

Admittedly it was hard for me to find games with the tag in my library that weren't purely visual novels
Princess Farmer: It is partially a visual novel, but it's also a cozy match-3 game
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1320490/Princess_Farmer/
Viola: The Heroine's Melody: It's a music-themed platformer/party RPG that I found to be fairly easy
https://store.steampowered.com/app/988310/Viola_The_Heroines_Melody/
Kitty Powers' Matchmaker Makeover: I saw you've played the original one, and there's a remaster of it releasing this year.

my lgbt recommendations:
Sticky Business - make gay stickers! (theres lots of lgbt content in sticker selection)
A YEAR OF SPRINGS (or just one night, hot springs for only first chapter) - relatable trans story <3
Unpacking - cozy game about unpacking that tells a story by showing the character's homes that she moves into
Spitkiss - cute short platformer about poly love
Fields of Mistria - stardew 2.0

Vampire Therapist is not specifically LGBT but is very welcoming of everything out there, via discussions with vampire clients and such. Been enjoying it in a similar vein of enjoyment I get from Ace Attorney games when you're in court, somehow.

I was so mad that the first time I ever heard anything about that game was when it ended up being given away here by people with subscriptions to... I can't remember the name right now. Some site that sends monthly indie freebies?
The game looks really well made.

They are pretty cool, I really like them.
You don't just get anything from them. You will actually have to read their newsletter (they are very entertaining btw) and confirm your interest in the respective month's game. And even then you are not 100% safe to get a key, you will have to be either fast when they send them out and claim it among the early ones, or be lucky when they make the draw for the remaining keys they save for this occasion.
My brain is like swiss cheese these days, thanks
No worries, we're all getting older, every day one day closer to the inevitable transit into the uncharted territories of the reaper.
Comment has been collapsed.
Pantaloon actually changed how the key distribution works since last month, now it's no longer first come first served and instead all of the keys (except for the guaranteed ones for paid subscribers and those who solved the monthly puzzle) are assigned at random. So you just click on the button inside the newsletter to tell them you're interested and then wait to see if you got lucky.

Found this right now, very cute, and excellent reviews
A YEAR OF SPRINGS

You can play One Night, Hot Springs for free too! It's one of the three stories in the paid A Year of Springs. I bought it but haven't played it yet but I loved the free one. :)

Optimal Conditions For a Sacrifice is a game I've had on my wishlist that seems to have really good writing
Comment has been collapsed.
Little Goody Two Shoes now has a free demo. It's a "a fairy tale horror adventure game with a dark twist" in the RPG-maker style with a WLW-only dating system.
On Your Tail is a verrrry different game. It's a cozy detective game that takes place in a charming seaside town in Italy. The game has lifesim elements, and most notably, plenty of characters you can romance, including several ladies. It also has a demo.

I was just checking the upcoming on Steam's LGBTQ tag page, (oh boy, it's like searching for "lesbians" on a porn site) just so you don't have to and I added a few games to my wishlist. Loooots of visual novels fell out ofc but there are still a few that caught my eye and look pretty good.
Dead in Antares, from the same studio that brought you Dead in Vinland and Dead in Bermuda (I sense a theme) so yeah it's a survival turn-based game with killer art and romance options for everyone (or almost I guess, I don't know what everyone is into tbh)
A Good Night's Rest has so many tags, it might look like a "everything but the kitchen sink" game but it's about maintaining your mental health and being yourself while dealing with your past, and it has queer characters, I can't really resist.
And oh look, some VN games anyway (I'm whimsical) :P
Et le grain mourut has a pretty unique look and setting. I hope it gets audio or sub in English.
Our Life: Now & Forever is also a VN but advertised as "choice heavy" which I hope doesn't translate to "tragic outcomes" but it's so so cute, I had to wishlist it
And as always the NSFW tagged jsyk:
The Symbiant II
And since we're talking upcoming, it looks like the Outerworlds 2 has an LGBTQ+ tag. The dudebros are not gonna be happy... :P

Oh yes, the dreaded "Lesbian"-tag on porn sites, brain is still haunted by the sight of all those long nails.
And by experiencing it myself. It's like a core memory for me going "AAAH MOTHERFUCKER WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST TURN ME INSIDE OUT HOLY HELL", idgaf if that's TMI, nails should be banned. Shoo, away.
I hope some (or actually most!) of these will be available as keys somewhere, makes things easier.
Oh no, Outer worlds 2 being woke? Outer Worlds was "woke" in general, Parvati being a homoromantic ACE, yet "can you sleep with Parvati" is among the top results if you google her. facepalm, the romance quest being a wingman was incredibly cute though, they really nailed the "awkward useless lesbian"-stereotype you see all over Reddit.

hahaha and so much silicone but yeah the acrylic is just worse than the silicone, for sure.

Talk about conversion therapy, eh? a quarter of the way through the 21st century and so many men still believe women are lesbian, ace or generally queer because they haven't "met the right guy yet". oh well.

While we're posting NSFW things, this is a great, truly raunchy but nearly wholesome tale of found family and trans-positivity you won't find anywhere else. Plus it inspired me to coin the term transdroid, which I have only used this once.
Comment has been collapsed.
Trans-positivity is rare enough these days, it's nice to see a game representing, NSFW or not.
I am actually shocked the community section for the game is so positive and inclusive and not riddled with toxic posts.
Plus it inspired me to coin the term transdroid, which I have only used this once.
Haha not something you can easily use in every day conversations but it's a good one. It should be used in every day conversations!

I am not against NSFW! It's just so often meant for a niche enjoyer of the sorts. I've played some AVNs (sadly in most of the long, well-written ones you're just always just some dude with a big dick banging everyone with a pulse), and it's often the awkward male gaze, or the fact that you can always make the queer ones straight that I feel is really problematic. I avoided all the lesbian couples (Being A Dik and Leap of Faith comes to mind, but in both instances I think one is a lesbian and one is a bisexual) because it's always turning into some sort of conversion therapy.
Darn, I was hoping this title would at least be on itch.io to buy as keys, but no :\ In current times trans-positivity is needed, I have a partner under the trans-umbrella in the UK and it's not.. it's not great.

Caravan SandWitch has been my go-to chill and relax game since my gf bought it and I started playing it on her laptop. There is no romance option so if that's what you're looking for in LGBTQ games, you might be disappointed but the world portrayed in the game has been described by many a Russian propaganda bot troll as woke and that should be enough :P
Seriously though, lots of inclusive positivity in the game with all races, creeds, religions, gender identity and sexualities. The characters you meet along the way are three dimensional and engaging and the world building itself is awesome. Not to mention the relaxing sound of cicadas.
It has been nominated for a Gayming Award 2025 in the indie category along other cool games like Sorry We’re Closed and Tavern Talk

I haven't played it (yet) but I suppose this qualifies.
People have been shipping these two characters for decades (long before the term ''shipping'' even existed) and this game lets you take a deeper dive in their relationship - whatever way you perceive it to be. It appears to be a heartwarming point and click adventure - the work of a passionate solo dev and has excellent professional voice actors.
Comment has been collapsed.
I have seen reviews that claimed the game redeemed years of queer baiting from the Sherlock tv show so the game does seem to qualify.
Regardless of all that, it seems like a pretty chill game with a lovely vibe and cool art, which is bonus points all around

Hold up, before you report me for my very misleading title; I do have games to give away here, and I do want recommendations.
I've been in such a gaming rut this year, nothing seems to capture my interest for a full playthrough anymore. Unless it's something cozy with LGBTQ+-tag. I really loved Life is Strange: True Colors (sorry for the region-locks, blame GMG), and I think everyone should have a Steph in their lives.
And No Longer Home was short and cute.
Just bought myself Queer Man Peering Into A Rock Pool.jpg and Terranova, does anyone else have any recommendations? I feel like it's mostly VNs that has this tag, and I think I'm just overly picky when it comes to that specific genre.
Happy gayming!
(I'll be sure to check out your recommendations, and hopefully it's also a good way for others to find new games too!)
For fun and giggles, I noticed my pack of toothbrushes had some sensitivity to them.
