I'm not sure if helping someone betraying that system, so that his school wins instead of one with honest, not betraying students can be called a good deed. :/
It's like helping a driver, get faster to his destination, by prevent an old lady crossing the street.

I mean, not necessarily. "Teachers, Parents, Alumni and ‘Friends-Of’ your school can also participate."
I've known UB through Bundlelicious and participated in several gaming events with him so I feel totally justified in helping him and his school achieve their goal. I would consider myself a friend! :)
It would have been different if the rules specified just students and teachers were allowed to participate.

Yeah but if friends are allowed to participate he should ask his friends instead of posting a thread in a public forum.
If you kinda are his friend then it's ok, but I'm sure that doen't count for everyone here.
So he is basically inciting people to cheat.
I'm not affected by this stuff in any way so I don't really care, but I just wanted to say, that I don't think doing this is a good thing.
Maybe all the classes on the top ranks are cheating who knows.
Thats why the honest ones always lose at competitions like this. ._.

I agree with Fyan, UB can be considered a friend somehow, at least for people on the group :D
What we don't know is if the contest examine the "friends". If they check IPs maybe the school ends disqualified. We don't know if they have any anti-cheating measure.
It's not like this is the 1st or 100th time someone wants to get help for a contest on SG.

Re-gift is against the rules, asking users to help you in contests isn't. Maybe he isn't allowed to do that on a forum thread, at least without previous permission, and he should do it inside giveaways. Staff should confirm this. Still the referral probably isn't allowed.
PS another thing is if it's breaking the rules there, so he or his school may end facing the consequences. But that doesn't concern us.

I'm pretty sure stuff like this is why support here does things on a case by case basis. If they truly have a problem with a contest for the benefit of children's education, I'd be very surprised... especially considering one of their own is a teacher.
And if the contest had a problem with people sharing outside their own little circle then they should have limited it to students/faculty/parents. Increased traffic to their site and advertising is most likely the reason this contest is running in the first place so I'd say everyone wins.

Ah, man, I did it! But, just as a warning: A moderator will most likely take this post down. Sadly, they're a bit strict on donations and fundraising type things. So, don't be too surprised if it's taken down. But, good luck on getting that printer. :)

Not quite....
1) the OP asks that only his friends on steam participate
2) the website ALLOWS "friends of" to participate
Overall, when you do these quizzes.. it brings awareness about the schools programs, to each person that participates.
So it is actually much more effective means of promotion, as each question needs to be researched.
it's a win - win for everyone.. kids/ schools, etc.
so i don't believe this is cheating... especially since you can register as "Friend of"

bump because you have the will to win something for your school and not yourself, ignore the haters, its eat or be eaten, this is the way of life, you think when they do those "sell chocolate" events and the winner gets a bike or something that the winner who somehow managed to sell thousands didn't have their entire family selling chocolates at work or wherever?

IN CLOSING
Thanks all of you who helped. We didn't reach our goal, but at least we have $1000 to at least put towards a printer, or save for when we can afford it. If any of you (besides deumas, you're a beast) helped out 5 days or more, please let me know, and I'll be gifting something cool.
Update
Please only take part in this if you know me from the site. Most of the people who've signed up are people I'd consider friends from SG or groups I'm in. I totally understand why some people think this is unfair, even though this is permitted, so please know me if you take part. And just because you might find it interesting, I'm not a student, I'm the teacher. There's very little money available in education, so an opportunity like this is great.
Original Post
Hi all. I'm trying to win a contest that will give my school enough money to buy a 3D Printer for the Computer Graphics and Animation classes. Right now we're in 3rd place, but we need to be in at least 2nd to afford it. Since the site is open to anyone, I thought I'd ask the community here to help out. It would be a commitment of about 10 minutes a day for the next week and a bit.
Instructions
Sign up at the site below:
http://chatterhigh.com/students/new
You can ignore the stuff until email/password
Once you're signed up
Click the orange "Start Earning! Take Today's Quiz." button. You can do this daily. It resets at 00:00 Pacific Standard Time.
See the standings here
I'll be posting a few GA's here over the next few days, and anyone that participates for 5+ days will be invited to a new group as a thank you. There's a stats page you can screenshot to show.
A few to start, will be adding more along the way!
MX vs. ATV Reflex
Galaxy on Fire 2™ Full HD
BioShock™
Lastly, if you can't help out with the competition, please at least give this thread a bump to keep it current.
Thanks so much for any help!
