Why they do not add one more type - ga visible only for users, who have this game in wishlist? I (and not only i) see more reasons give games for people who realy want this game and dont see reason give it for "game icon collectors".
Giveaway ~200 entries. 100 with wishlist + 100 "collectors", if seconds not will see ga - first 100 will have more chance.
Why not? Why sg still not have this type?

ppl actually add thousand of f2p games to Steam using scripts which makes Steam load slower. so this is similar. Not everybody obviously, but lots of ppl will.

There is still a number of people who have literally thousands of games in their wishlists.

I wonder if an optional Entry limit would be something to consider. Like first 300ppl to join and then it closes to get a better chance at things etc.

I think so too, it could be used in a lot of ways. Deadlines for Puzzles maybe? Or who can find the hidden link first? It would make those "whitelist for this discussion only" GA's a lot easier I think.

Easily done, make a Private/Invite Only gibuey then delete the entry link once the chosen target is reached...I was going to do that when one of my more recent GAs hit 20 entries but it only ever got 15...

Yeah that's a workaround but what about people who share links? Or if you want to do a special event like a Speed Puzzle? That's what I was going for. Or even Public GA's that you wan't to limit to maybe 500 entries or something I dunno. :P Would be a neat feature to have, in case the situation presents itself.

Do a gib with a puzzle, delete the gib link FROM the puzzle once the target is reached, it's the best you'll ever get unless you put a really short length on the gib...

EDIT: if that's not good enough, galagiveaways offer max-entries gibs

It's too easy to cheat through this system by using a script to add every games on Steam to one's wishlist. Also, not necessarily everyone use the wishlist function (I didn't used to), or they simply don't add everything they want to it (like I still do).

Not sure what you're implying but... theres no grey area for me since I've been on SG at least, I wishlist games I want to play BUT sometimes games with "cards" make it there as well.

You winning ga for 3-5 cheap cards. Other missing GAME.

As I said most of the games I do try and play, backlogs increase. You participated in a GA for a game you already had the base form of (Deus Ex) and only put 2 hours into it then abandoned it. What's your point?

Directors Cut was basically the same game with Missing Link integrated and a few minor changes. Seeing as how you already had missing link I'm guessing BS. No offense really, it just seems you going after others for things you do as well. Ending argument there though, I'm drinking and don't wish to sour my night. :)

I mean if someone/somewhere something using - it not mean this use all. If 10% will use scripts and add 1000 games in wl - i think it still better, than 50±% as now (50±% - game icons/cards collectors).

of course everybody is not using scripts. but if it'll get official, most of the people will add most of the games on their wishlist -if not add them all- manually or using a script. it'll be a mess.

Folks already use scripts to enter every ga they can, doing the same for wishlist isn't that far off.

I don't always maintain my wishlist.
The only time I ever really sort and organize it, is during the steam sales where there is a slight, slight, slight, possibility of a few lucky steam members winning things off their wishlist.
I've never been one of those lucky people and these events haven't even happened for awhile.
Its nice to hear when a game on my wishlist has gone on sale I guess... But sometimes I can't afford to buy it even if it's on sale... and it comes in handy for quickly finding the games I want to put points in on SG
I think people might use their wishlist in different ways. Some people put every single game they don't already own on their wishlist. Some people play and buy games, but don't use a wishlist at all. They just remember what they want to play. I know some people who use it like a gift registry... adding just a few games because they know a friend or family member might choose something as a gift for them. If someone (like a friend or grandma for example) is going to choose something off the list, it would be nicer if they saw and chose something like GTA 5 then Bat Rats, (even if you might want both games...) Not to mention some stuff can't even go on wishlists, some pack/dlc included editions...
Whether something is there or isn't, may not indicate how much someone wants the game. Sometimes I don't even know about a game until I've seen it here, and it might just be exactly the type of game I've been hoping to play. (and hopefully I'll have the time and sense to add it to my wishlist so I remember it when I don't win it on SG) :)

As other said, there are scripts to add every game on Steam to your wishlist. Also there are a lot of people who don't use the WL feature.
You can always make whitelist giveaways and pick who enters in your giveaways.

look like you entering in every ga what you see.

And if there are scripts to add every game on Steam to your wishlist why you care about my head post? Use script and be happy, other 9/10 users not will do this.

"Also there are a lot of people who don't use the WL feature."- one more time:
users add in wl games, which they realy want. If you dont have this game - you not realy want her. If you have 1000 games in wl and miss something - you dont realy want or just game icon collector. Why its so hard understand?

First of all, my opinion is invalid just because I haven't been able to gift as much as I want to, and because I have more games than the average user?

And if there are scripts to add every game on Steam to your wishlist why you care about my head post?

I care because I like SG, I have been here for 3+ years (since beta, when you needed an invite code to join) and I want it to be a nice place for everybody, if I see a suggestion that I don't like, I think I can give my opinion on it.

Use script and be happy, other 9/10 users not will do this.

That's cheating the system. If you want to add a feature to the site, make sure it's not exploitable (or atleast not THAT easy)

And I didn't understand what you tried to say after that, I'm sorry.

see, the problem is i haven't gone all of the games on steam. i have a lot on my wishlist, but i really find some cool games here (both forum and public GA). sometimes they are added to the wishlist after.

Idn... i already add tons of games to wishilist- 700+, soon 800... i use my wishlist as a filter, games to watch(some ea for example), games to check later... the games i wish most i don't need to be reminded i wish anyway and my closest friends know wich they are...

Making users only be able to enter giveaways for games on their wishlist isn't a bad idea, provided a few other things go along with it, like a low enough maximum wishlist size (10?) and having to wait e.g. a week between clicking to add a game to the wishlist and having it appear on it. All that combined would certainly curtail the "enter every giveaway I see" practice.

Haven't checked recently, but if the Steam API supports it, one option could be to apply this theoretical giveaway type to only the first -- let's say 10 -- items on a person's wishlist. This would mostly bypass the add-everything-via-script worry. However, this would rely on a portion of the API that has been pretty shaky in the past (it previously couldn't retrieve more than 20 items, iirc, and I don't know if it's guaranteed to retrieve them in the correct order). And of course you still might have some people swapping their wishlists about and re-syncing, which would be annoyingly unnecessary work for the server. But otherwise, there's a mostly reasonable option.
