Finally understood the example, then I realized that the actual puzzles in the questions are of higher dimension, with more than one blank on each row and column since we're still limited to 4 letters(?) Applying the techniques from the example didn't seem to work out here, and it only seems to get harder, so I'll leave it to some more dedicated solvers. :P

You are correct, there are only 4 letters, and those in the puzzle have more than one blank in each row. But you can use that. So for example in the first puzzle, there are 3 A's in the top (and the bottom). Which means that one starts with an A, one starts with a blank then an A, and one starts with two blanks then an A. But if two of them start with blanks, and there are only two blanks in each row, then every other column starts with a letter.
The logic you have to use is very much like that of a sudoku, but more so.

Well I continue with my weekly 2016 puzzles, most have ended on Mondays, but given that I got this one up late following a 70+ hour work week last week, I have decided to end this on Wednesday 17 February
