Seriously, why? Between all the giveaways in my train, a total of 8 people have entered through leaked links.
Doing some very basic detective work, I think I know what happened. Someone thought it was a good idea to link to my train on our favourite leak group's image board. Clues?
-All of the invalid entries are by people who make RU/CIS-giveaways (our favourite leak group is a Russian group)
-Some of the invalid entries are also members of /Gaben on steam.
-Most of the invalid entries have winners on private/group/WL giveaways that are known members of this group, and who have actively participated in leaking giveaway links in the past, or tried to group solve puzzles.
Anyone stupid enough to enter through a leaked link when there's an SGtools check (and really, you have to be really stupid to think that it's a good idea to just enter through random links to private giveaways that you find, when SGtools is around) earns a permanent spot on my blacklist.

Seems true that "no train is sacred" when people leak the links, then feel like they can get away with it. If it is entirely a CU/RIS group, sometimes have to wonder how long before an option shows up where regions could be blocked from entering... It really isn't fair though that if it did happen, that a smaller group would ruin it for the honest people.
Anyhoo, that "train checker" on sgtools itself? Might have a look at my last one.
Edit: Found it. Lucky in my case, only one person on two different giveaways. Didn't win, now blacklisted. a Lv3 too, from Germany though, not Russia. Still may have found the link from there.

I would not want to block an entire region, or see that being possible. Even though /Gaben is relatively big (if you also consider the amount of people who are not part of the steam group, but frequent their image board), they still make up a minority of all Russians, and being part of that group does not automatically make you a bad guy, it's just that that group seem to attract a lot of scumbags (I've been tempted to just blacklist everyone who's part of the steam group in the past, but I would not want to punish someone who's not guilty).
Yeah, the train checker is a part of SG-tools. It's quite handy.

Ah, I might have been unclear earlier. Russians, outside of /Gaben, don't seem to be overrepresented when it comes to leaked links, I've encountered people from all regions who have entered through leaked links, it's just that this particular group is Russian, and a lot of its more prominent members leak links (and try to group solve puzzles).

I know. I won't even blacklist everyone from /Gaben, as I want to avoid blacklisting someone innocent. And I remember them getting quite a backlash from some other Russian SG members when one /Gaben's more prominent member said that any attack on /Gaben was an attack on all of SG's Russians because they were so big. Basically, there's quite a few Russians on SG who are really unhappy with /Gaben because they give Russians a bad name.

Honestly, I don't think I'm the person with a brain here, just blacklisting everyone would cut down on me having to worry about things getting leaked, and that would motivate me to do more forum giveaways again. Every time there's a mass leak, I see /gaben members, and only /gaben members (and their affiliates).

What i mean i know at least 4 russian (yea i know only russian leaks giveaways why not) groups who do the same crap all the time, but it's only that one group hyped that much with negative attitude, while the group is halfdead combo of different groups members.

You seems still dont understand one thing - people hate eachother for no reason because its human nature - someone will say - LOOK THIS GUY IS A DOUCHE - 90% of the people wont even think about it they will like yea i guess - how come you blacklisted admins of the groups? One of the group hate eachother - this group goes on some forum and leaks some random crap - then they come here and say OH WAO LOOK WHAT I FOUND LEAKED GIVEAWAY - another day admin of the other group do the same for the opposite group. What people on SG do? All the do is instahate and (gif attached)
Some guy do random bad crap on sg forums - some other random RUSSIAN guy tell him that he is faggot - what happence next? Everybody ignores that 1st guy is a faggot, they just start instahating 2nd guy because Oh look russian crap. Thats what's happening like last half a year on forums, at least what i see.

One of them I remember straight away why he got on my blacklist. He leaked a giveaway from a puzzle, then argued that he did absolutely nothing wrong leaking this link because anyone could have solved the puzzle and he claimed it was just a big waste of time. I would probably not have noticed if he had not drawn so much attention to himself.
The behaviour of the ones at the top does set the tone for the rest of the group. If a leader of a group participates in leaking links, then that sends out the signal that it's okay to leak links to the rest of the group.
I don't care where you're from, but if someone affiliates with people who openly break the rules, then that does indicate that they might not really care about rule breaking. It does not have to be the case, but it increases the likelihood dramatically.
And last time /gabe was a big topic, I did scan through the image board. While google translate is spotty at best, I did find a remarkably large amount of leaked links (yes I clicked on them, no I did not enter any of them). Every roughly 10th post was, at that point, a leaked giveaway link, or a link to some choice bits of a train, and absolutely nobody actually said it was wrong to leak links. That to me indicated that there's a bit of a culture of link leaking on that particular image board, that such behaviour is considered acceptable.

You really think what people do is leaking crap 24/7 there? Go there right now and look how much leaked crap there right now, the only link ull find is yours, that time when you found 100500 links, was when someone desided to troll (so your link aswell right now), so he was feeding more and more private links there so people here flip their sh`t like they like to.

Well, considering how many seem to be more than willing to enter through these leaked links, it does paint a rather damning picture of the board in general. Again, I'm not saying that everyone there does these things, but when so many do, well, it does not look good for the community.

As been mentioned above, you should keep in mind that this is aib and everyone free to post whatever he likes, people just enter giveaways with links provided most of the time without even reading the descriptions because there is no anal rules like here, you know, if someone post private link there everyone free to join. So when leaked giveway posted half of the people wont even bother looking if it's leaked or not. You said that yeh, look at me i am english speaker why would i even post it there, and you have a point, but people there dont care, and the only their fault is not reading the description, so they just have to figure out 1st if its leaked or not, but they dont want to waste their time you know.

I said it already i repeat once more - THERE is COMMON THING if someone post private givaway - the one and only reason not to enter is blacklist, there is no crap like - upon entering do the flip, or post poopfart picture or say hi in chat. People just let anyone to join their privates if they fit the lvl of the giveaway, and if they dont like people entered they just blacklist them so they wont be able to enter in the future, and people there post like tens of the privates per day, that's why most of the people dont even bother to read the descript - i'm not blacklisted cool

Yes, it's common that people post legitimate giveaways, far more common than leaked ones, but leaked ones have proven to still be common enough that people really should be on edge regarding these things, and not just accept any link at face value.
Anyone not checking the giveaway, well it's on them if they get blacklisted.

That's good of you, to just blacklist them without that drama what i say, but last thing what i wanted to say, your point of you a bit blurred from reality cus you are far from that ru segment, so for YOU, you think that they post leakes often etc, actually for me who dont bother post on forums much (i dunno why i'm pooping all thos walls of text and wasting your time sorry, usually just readonly), I see like 200 of group and private links for 1 leak there.

Most of the high-profile leaking cases in the past have been linked to links posted on /gabe. If you're going to just follow a link on /gabe and not considering its origin, even if the vast majority of them are alright, you're really quite daft. There are some telltale signs that you should investigate a link a bit further to make sure that you're not entering through a leaked link, like if you see that it's the GA from someone who never post their GA links there.
But I don't think /gabe is as innocent as you're trying to make it look. I remember the harassment campaigns against Melly, and the number of users who participated there. I remember one of the more high profile members openly admitting that you were group solving puzzles there. Those things were not the doing of one or two trolls, but nearly a dozen people.

People who leaking private giveaways not leaking them, they just post private giveaway links to troll people who used to enter giveaways like that, and i'm 100% sure out of (8?) people you blacklisted today 6 at least wont even notice it, unless same guy will post another your private month later to troll and already blacklisted guys will start whining WHOOOOOOO created this giveaway, WHYYYY blacklist. This is more common to that part of runet

Don't listen to nekomimibadik, most of /gabe and 2ch'ers (not all of them, of course) are scumbags even by standarts of other russian gamers: they troll sg users, like to share puzzle answers and private giveaway links, leeching hard from public steamgifts, because they think they're anonymous.

No offence and sorry to hear about your party crashers. I also had some but just a headsup: SG support will re-roll an invalid SGT entry winner and If you give the names of the invalid entries to Knsys they will never be a problem in SGT giveaways again
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, it is and on some forums some even advise how to (try) to cheat the system. One of my invalid entries had a win/gift ratio in the vicinity of 250/5, 3 non activations and 1 multiple win while my SGT reqs were gifts ratio 1/1, all activated and no multiple wins.
This person is now permabanned from SGT giveaways. I didn't pass on his name out of pleasure but because he will not be party crashing other SG users their SGT giveaways.
Most enter correctly but some not.

So you found a private giveaway link somewhere, and did not consider it possibly being a leaked link? I should not have to say in each one of my giveaways where you need to enter from, if you don't enter from one of "my" sources, you're obviously not entering from the right one, and the link is leaked.
The fact that you were willing to do this shows that blacklisting you is the right choice, as next time it might have been one of my puzzles getting leaked.
Comment has been collapsed.
Why not? Well, because I don't speak Russian and thus would have nothing to do on a Russian image board. That seems quite obvious to me.
And I should not have to say where you should have entered from, as I would assume people would be able to figure out which link is from me, and which one is not. Hint: If it's from someplace where I would not understand a single word being spoken, and there's no clear identifier indicating that it's me, it's not me.

Let me tell you a big secret that many of the Russian-speaking community make international giveaway in English (surprise!). Because again repeat - how do I will know that your giveaway, without special description? I need to read your mind?
Comment has been collapsed.
You could check my location (visible on steam). Considering this is far from the first time GA links have been leaked on /gabe, you have to be rather daft to not actually consider the origin of a GA link. If someone you've never seen post links to their giveaways on /gabe before suddenly gets a few links posted, it should be in the back of your mind that they might be leaked and double check.
