Did you vote?
I will be able to vote in my country's next election, which is cool, I guess. I'm not Canadian, so this isn't really relevant, but thanks for the gibs.

"No, I shamed my country by not performing my civic duty to vote"
Even if democracy isn't a sham, even if the ballot mattered, even if the system worked as intended, I still wouldn't vote, and I'd still look down on anyone who did unironically. For falling victim to the propaganda and lies time and again. For believing a mark on a sheet of paper in a sea of other marks on other sheets of paper was a thing of consequence. For believing they who digest approved and processed fictions from media and academia instead of discovering truth for themselves actually possess the expertise needed to decide the fate of a nation, nay, have a duty to decide the fate of a nation from a position of absolute ignorance. For delegating a power they do not have: the power to control the lives, belongings and destinies of other people by fiat and force, to people they themselves would tell you tomorrow are the scum of the earth.
You who have voted have not changed anything that truly matters. You who urge others to vote, confuse a ceremony of dancing puppets for an exercise in real power. Government will not become better this time around, it never has, never does. Government policy had long ago been bought by interests with more wealth and power than you can dream to have. The problems we face will not be solved by the very men and women professional whores who are to blame for them in the first place with their previous bungled attempts at social/cultural/economic engineering projects. All you have accomplished is granting publicity and legitimacy to a titanic criminal enterprise that has no idea what the fuck it's doing. You are idiots, shills, worms. Pray that the masters you have chosen tread lightly on the dirt you slither in.
Until you realize that corruption is not a flaw in the system but instead it's very purpose, you are lost.

I agree with you. Though I wouldn't be so strict towards those people. If they believe in democracy, so be it. It helps 'em to get through the burdens of everyday life. This is essentially the same thing as with religion. People need to believe they're lives matter.
And another thing.
that has no idea what the fuck it's doing
Oh, they do know, what they're doing. If they don't do the things you'd consider right for them to do, that's not a concern of theirs. That is the whole another game there on their level. What they are mostly trying to do is to preserve power for themselves at all cost.

I would argue that while ignorance can be forgiven, to support malicious fictions cannot. We cannot demonstrate that God exists. We cannot demonstrate that He has been malevolent. The same cannot be said for government.
And while individual actors may know what they are doing, the institution as a whole doesn't. Convenient delusions are earnestly believed. Left hands fight with right hands. The problems of today were caused by the failures of yesterday. That there are systemic patterns of behavior is evident. Hobbes' Leviathan grows ever larger, the Overton Window shifts ever leftward, reality becomes ever more obfuscated. But like natural selection or the motions of the planets, we can explain the system as a consequence of fundamental mechanical interactions rather than a conspiracy with an agenda in mind. And my analysis is that they don't know what they're doing.

And why are so many people disaffected to begin with? Perhaps they know something you don't.
Perhaps they know that the legislative branch they supposedly control is one small branch in within a larger executive and judicial ecosystem they have no authority over. Perhaps they realize that all the nominees have been selected for them by cliques they are not invited to. Perhaps they realize that a vote based on good knowledge and care is equal to one based on ignorance and dementia, and the latter far outnumbers the former. Perhaps they realized that what passes for knowledge among their fellow voters was carefully preconstructed and installed into their heads by a state controlled education system, a state controlled academia, and a state controlled mass media network. Perhaps they realize they're not selecting policy, they're selecting the actual voters of policy. And those voters will be bought and sold.
Perhaps they realize that people wanting something doesn't mean they're going to get it.
But, as I said, even if it worked as intended, I wouldn't support democracy. It's moral foundation is that that two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner is a good and moral idea.
And that's even if you could make it work as intended. But you can't. Two party dominance in FPTP voting is a mathematical inevitability. Not to mention the intentional rigging of systems that electees have every reason to seek out.. Even saints cannot wrestle with Leviathan and come out untouched. But good luck trying to change the system. You're not the one writing it into law. Those who do have every reason to oppose you. The lamb can't convince the wolves to turn vegan.

So, it was election day here in Canada. They are projecting a Liberal victory, for those not following anything.
And the real reason you checked out this thread, they are all level 3:

hordelicious
Super Chain something or other
Project Root
I found another copy of Deponia, where do they keep coming from
