I've been dealing with the same thing. I've been sticking with music and writing instead of reading for a while, but I'll be sure to check out her blog and maybe her books, it sounds interesting.

I HIGHLY recommend Hyperbole and a half... She is clinically depressed but manages it as best she can plus she's freaking hilarious... in my darkest hours I clean ALL the things and soldier on to the next day and the next... As a mother who has mild depression and owns a son who suffers too, I can definitively state that depression is an illness. It may not look like the flu or diabetes or even cancer... but it can be fleeting like the flu, hang around and cause harm like diabetes or be fatal like cancer. If someone you know (or you) is depressed, urge them (or yourself) to seek medical help. Depression causes harm and even kills.
Momo over and out... :-p

Oh, but I already own Hyperbole. ^^ It's actually Jenny Lawson herself who recommended me to read Allie's book and it is super awesome. It's spot on on so many things, I could often recognize my own behavior. It was frightening and comforting at the same time. ;) And speaking of Allie Brosh, I just saw on Amazon that she's going to publish a new book next year so yay!
Seeking profesionnal help is a scary process (in my case, it is) but it's also the first step to recovery (or at least to living a somewhat normal life). I've seen doctors, gone into therapy, tried meds... I still haven't found the right combination. But I still have hope I'll get better.

Remember that it's a process and not a 100% solution. The goal is to feel incrementally better to the point where you don't even notice you have a disease. I know, I know... easier said than done but heck, people with diabetes struggle with this. Why should depression be any different? It's a disease that needs to be managed on a daily basis. For some reason, we think that our emotional well-being should have a magic bullet while with a disease like diabetes, we never assume that :-p

It is always good to remember that there is hope, and of course you are not alone

And those reasons are :
I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety disorder for most of my life and thank whatevergod (but especially my best friend) I discovered Jenny Lawson, also known as The Bloggess, a couple of years ago.
Her writings make me laugh and cry too sometimes. I can relate to her in so many ways because she is plagued by the same problems as me. What I’ve learned reading her blog is that I am not alone. And that depression lies. And that there’s hope too.
Take a moment to peruse her blog and if her style appeals to you, I would highly recommend that you read her first book, entitled Let’s Pretend This Never Happened - A Mostly True Memoir. It’s my favorite feel-good book. Well, it is for now, because as I’ve said, there’s another one coming up real soon.
Furiously Happy - A Funny Book About Horrible Things should be released on September 22 and here’s the official trailer. (yes, a book trailer)
I preordered my copy from amazon.ca back in April and I simply can't wait to finally be able to read it! ^^
Ah yes... the train starts here.
Edit: thanks everyone, I really appreciate your comments. :3
