The darksiders key we are winning that you redeem through gamestop to get the steam key are those eligible to give away before getting the steam key? Are people going to basically be allowed to do a giveaway for the key and let the person jump through the gamestop hoop to get their steam key?

Due to the fact you ultimately get a Steam key to use

Before getting the steam key? No.

I am reserving judgement until a mod says otherwise :)
Not that I do not believe you but I do see the possibility of allowing it. Figure it is better to ask and let them address the issue before they start popping up.

I believe it should be handled just like the bundles used to be (so you can't give away the game and still have it) and the keys given away should be the ones which are being send to people (GameStop ones)

I didn't even think of that but thank you for a good argument for.

Hmmm, not sure. But I expect a lot of incoming Darksiders giveaways now.

Oh crap, and I still have one GMG Darksiders key waiting. :-) Well, let's keep it for after the storm. Or maybe even activate it. :-)

Same here that's why I'm asking. I won one myself and want to give it away I don't wanna jump through the gamestop hoop myself though to get the key. Worst case scenario they say no I come up with some forum giveaway to get rid of it.

So you make other people jump through the hoops because you're too lazy or something to do it yourself?

It is called Steam gifts, not GameStop whatever gifts.

Yea, just wait a little bit. Seeing as it just happened.

It's hard to say what will happen seeing as I imagine a lot of people got keys. And there might be some people who got a couple/lots of keys.

You always can give it to me ;P

I wonder if this will be counted as a bundle/exploited key. They're giving away 10k all together, but it's open to everyone and it's not exploitable, so I wonder if it depends on whether we see a large influx of Darksiders giveaways or not.

Other Steam redeemable giveaway keys have been fine in the past. So as long as it's Steam redeemable, there should be no problem... but don't quote me on that.

Good call. I already have GameStop Darksiders on my acc (from earlier sale) and would love to know how to handle another one.

What everyone else said. From what I understand of it, it's not exploitable and isn't like the Grimrock issue (where people'd give out Steam keys and keep the DRM-free version themselves), so we'll treat it like someone giving out spare IGN keys or keys from a graphics card they bought.

Sounds reasonable. BTW, why isn't "Support" next to your name? I swear it used to be....you're not another one who quit, are you? :/

Really? Welp. Here comes a few hundred giveaways...

What about people who are giving 5+ copies?

Although you can enter each day, if you win once, I doubt you'll be able to win it again. The multiple entries are just for the grand prize I believe. As such, the only way to get multiple copies would be to use multiple accounts/emails, which would be against the rules, so that person should be reported to IGN.

so that person should be reported to IGN. This is for Gamestop. Also I think you can use multiple accounts?(And I KNOW people will)

Sorry, I meant GameInformer, not IGN. GameInformer is holding the contest, and their rules stipulate one entry per person per day.

People will still do it.

Just to make sure. Does it mean that we can/should give away gamestop app keys without getting the steam key out of them. (So this would prevent from "splitting" the game into steam one and drm-free)

Wait, is there a DRM free version? I hadn't heard of that part.

I'm not sure there is but this is what you can get (product code being steam key).

I haven't redeemed my key yet, but I'm pretty sure they game REQUIRES Steam, so you do not get a DRM-free version. Using the GS app simply gives you the Steam key, not access to download the game.

EDIT: Yep, requires "Online Steam Account": http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/darksiders/77662

Ummm no, it tried to get me to download in the GS app first....

So yes we can give them the gamestop key so they can redeem it to get their steam key? And are you support/mod? I see nothing by your name lol

Yeah, I'm a mod. Check the FAQ. We've all been kicked from the position temporarily though while some back end changes happen. Problem is that it wasn't a voluntary kick and it happened without warning, which is annoying us considerably. That was Yatterman's last straw, which is why he's left.
