I was just bored. lol Felt like doing something different for one instead of my usual stupid crap.

It means you hate E3. Which is good because E3 sucked this year! ;_;

I come to help though its nice when I see giveaways also, btw go with rig2, there is a HUGE difference in performance from the X4 to i5, also would go with 8gb Ram if you can budget it, when running a lot of stuff it helps, I usually dip into the 6gb area.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yea, I was going to do that, and then some one recommended me a different set up. Someone is always telling me to do something else so I just drop that build... I am never going to make a computer at this point ;_;
Comment has been collapsed.
Haha yeah, better off on a PC/Tech board but you cant go wrong with an i5/560ti, its kinda a standard bang for your buck build at this point.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's the "problem" when it comes to recommendation in different subjects such as computer related.
Some will give you an average priced mid-high end, some will answer saying that pc is garbage and should get yourself an i7 ivy bridge, the other one will say his suggestion is stupid because the motherboard does not include the latest technollogy in Intel Graphics, and so on.....
Comment has been collapsed.
i7 isn't worth it for gaming, It has benefits elsewhere, not enough though for the price difference in my honest opinion. Yeah I know but for a mid/high end build that will run every game maxed at a 1080p resolution for the most part and will last along time. I can only see someone getting something stronger if they have a huge resolution. Thats not to say the X4 wont perform decently because it will, its just on its way out soon enough, most people will be upgrading those in a year or two.

To be honest I would go with a tiny bit more powerful PSU, 550-600watt, I prefer Corsair but there are other good brands, the graphics card you picked is a monster, here are some benchmarks up to a 560ti and I don't think its needed if you are budgeting. I would put that extra money towards future upgrades or a nice mouse/keyboard.
Everything else looks fine to me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yea I need a better PSU for sure. Is the 560ti as good/cheaper? lol
Comment has been collapsed.
The 560ti is cheaper but it is technically weaker then the HD 7850,you can see the differences in fps in those benchmarks, in my opinion its not worth the price difference to justify the extra few fps. Plus Nvidia is always much much better with video drivers and supports physx unlike AMD, Many people could care less but I think its Pretty nice.
Many of the people I know including myself stopped using AMD because of driver issues(Sometimes recently launched games go wonky and they take forever to implement fixes, my friend still gets terrible fps when driving in Saints Row 3 for some odd reason).

Hmm I think I might just get that if it is cheaper, I can use the extra money towards a better PSU instead.
Plus Physx does look pretty sweet and that's what I wanted from the start.
Yea, I've been told AMD is pretty meh, only good for cheap builds.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah thats a good idea, never cheap out on a psu, my friend did that recently and it killed his motherboard and his cpu. Go with a trusted brand.
Yeah they use to be pretty awesome, I switched to Nvidia recently because of all the game/driver issues, some people never have issues it seems but many do.
Good luck, should be a nice computer.

Looks perfect to me, evga is pretty much the best gpu maker when it comes to Nvidia.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm friend says 560ti is pretty old. Any more recent still cheap nvivdia cards? lol
Also said that I shouldn't use intel motherboard because newer cards don't work of them?
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't really see it being outdated for at least a long while, Nvidia hasn't released many new cards besides the GTX670/680/690 which are new new cards and carry giant price tag. Not sure how long those prices will last, you could wait a bit but thats technology, as soon as you buy something its outdated. The 560ti will max anything out on a 1080p resolution right now and looking at how slow graphics have been moving I would not be super worried, my 460 pretty much still does with a couple things turned off.
You can always go on a tech board for a second opinion of course, thats never a bad thing to do.
Oh, I have no clue, I always thought intel was pretty stable? Maybe they have been having issues, personally I always went with gigabyte, that would be odd for it to refuse to work with newer cards, maybe its a bios issue though...

Any idea with the 560ti would run Witcher 2, Crysis, and BF3 on max/high?
Just curious how good it really is.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah it will run all of those maxed.
These games will run a bit better then you see in those vids, fraps really does a pretty big number recording. Also crysis isn't a great benchmark anymore because its not really utilizing newer hardware correctly, it was built with dual cores in mind...if it was made today it would look better and run better.

Hmm they all look really nice.. I still scared to buy the set up lol.
Comment has been collapsed.
I would say that is a pretty great setup.
Though, You may want to go for a Z77 Motherboard. You get the extra features only an Ivy Bridge can get out of it, plus a little Future proofing.
I have the same CPU and same Speed Ram, Plus the Non-TI version of the GTX 560 Video Card, and its running great.
Though a couple of last thoughts, you may want to get an SSD unless you already have one (It makes everything snappy I hear), and if you live in an area that gets got, you may want to buy an Better CPU Cooler then Stock (Though it works fine otherwise). Though these can both be gotten a while after everything else. I personally have both of these being shipped to me right now to finish up my build, in which I bought/set up in April.

Gah these things add up lol. :/
I was only going to do 500 at first. Then I let myself do 700. I can't go past 800 ;_;

Yea, everyone seems to have a completely different opinion when it comes to making a PC. It sucks for people liek me who don't know anything about the stuff lol. I'm very indecisive.
Comment has been collapsed.
To be honest if I was to try to help I couldn't. I don't know anything about computers much >~> sorry

Hehe nice experiment :) I saw both giveaways, but I'm afraid I wasn't too interested in Horrid Henry, I saw enough of KagatoAsuka's stream teehee xD Also, didn't feel like I can help with computer stuff, I'm pretty out of touch with hardware stuff. So posting would be a moot point. I think I didn't comment on E3, either. So.. dunno how I fit in the experiment, saw both threads, didn't comment, didn't enter.

I did look in the thread, but backed out when I realised I had nothing to contribute. Computer hardware is not my thing. Sorry to contribute negatively to your experiment. D:

Actually, I just realised I read the thread and PMd the creator instead of adding my two cents on the topic.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's fine lol. It was more of a thing of people who at least clicked to check what I needed help with, and were curious I needed help with.
Comment has been collapsed.
I also negatively contributed, I'm sorry IgotElbows.

Topics named "Can anyone help me?" could vary from having drinking issues to changing a tire in a car so I don't even bother clicking them. I think I didn't notice any of your threads but the first one would be just "meh" and scrolling down.
Comment has been collapsed.
It was the best topic imo to so to say "test" the community, to see who woulda attempted to help. I can't really explain it. I'm bad with words that's why I just showed the results lol.
Comment has been collapsed.
Interesting case study. Although you could see the results a mile ahead... That being said, if you are still trying to build that computer, I would have to say you would be better off waiting until you can afford a ir-3570K on a Z77 mobo.
Comment has been collapsed.
but one topic was about something specific... not every one here knows soething about computers (probably the mayority yes, but what ever) the other was a opinion topic... anyway... yes, is kinda interesting, just by the title the impact is different...
Comment has been collapsed.
No one even knew what it was about until they clicked it. It was just a person asking for help.
Comment has been collapsed.
Isnt this a known fact? Where u think all the ninjas come from? But thanks for the giveaways, didnt look at either of them
Comment has been collapsed.
Btw, nice experiment indeed :) Maybe if your help thread name was more direct, like help me find my bicycle for example, more people would have come in because they would know what it is about. I usually don't check general threads which don't say much in title (e.g. I've got a new game). So what game, what is so special about it?
I still get the difference between people opening a help thread and people opening a giveaway thread though, so congrats on taking the effort to play a little with human qualities :)
Comment has been collapsed.
The problem with making a specific type of help is that some people won't know how to help so they wouldn't have even bothered. I figured if it just said "help" people would click it to see what help was needed.
Comment has been collapsed.
I read that thread but you got already good answers for your problem.

Heh... y-you are funny. just i-imagining things like always.

So yea... his won't be very formal or anything because I'm a bad writer. It will be quick and to the point.
I was curious about how active people were on the forum and how helpful they were to people who needed help on something, I was also curious as to how many people just go on the forum for giveaways.
So about a week ago I made 2 topics at the exact same time and I would bump in them/keep them up at the same time. The giveaways and the topics were closed at the same time.
My first topic was Can any of you help me?
My second topic was A forum GIVEAWAY in celebration of E3!!!
Topic 1 had 23 posts. 11 of them by me.
Topic 2 had 55 posts. 14 of them by me.
A pretty big difference. However the most interesting part was the giveaways.
Topic 1s giveaway had 36 people enter it.
Topic 2s giveaway had 290 people enter it.
What does this mean? Nothing really. I just thought it was all very interesting. I hope you find it interesting as well. :)
