I dunno who to choose, Stormcloacks or imperials? I'm a "Heavy Warrior" Orc. Pros and cons of each would be nice.

What's your favorite color? If it's red, Imperials. If it's blue, Stormcloaks. If it's something else... well.. uhm... kill everyone!

+1, So far, I chose the "Kill everyone" option. :D

Looks like the new fad is to post a thread talking about a game, and not stating WHICH GAME it is.
Anyways.

I've ALWAYS asked myself that question, too. Can I join both? Will I be attacked by the enemy if I join one of them?

No, you can't join both on one gameplay, and no, you won't be attacked, at least not when you are wandering the map, just durring the missions.

Thanks.
I think I'll choose the Stormcloaks.

Thats not true, when you join one faction the other faction has camps across the world map, some of those guys wander out and get feisty. And until you beat/win the rebellion you can find wandering groups of imperials transferring prisoners, they will get uppity with you as a stormcloak. IDK if there is a imperial equivalent of that but yeah, two ways that your choice can effect the world maps number of hostile encounters. The soldiers (and prisoner) in these encounters are lame however, i think their lvl caps lower than yours iirc.

Actually, you can switch factions during "The Jagged Crown" and therefore be a member of both factions in one playthrough. Just not at the same time.

well, the one game with imperials and stormcloaks in it at the same time which is out there is skyrim, so i doubt its necessay for comrade knightofthedragonkeep to specify, no?

nope, the game isn't that sophisticated. literally nobody cares which side you pick, they don't even notice unless you're wearing faction armor and even then one of them just shouts "you take that off" rarely.

anything that seems like an event happens anyway like mcage's imperial prisoner thing. they act exactly the same if you're unaligned stormcloak or imperial.

The only difference is the storyline, whichever side you choose won't influence on your set, build or level up.

I joined my own faction called the F both of those factions faction. See Senile Scribbles on YouTube

Besides, the only real 'benefit' I have noticed to picking a faction is when you are making your escape and the quality or ease of gear you get in the escape from Helgen.

Stormcloacks for missions, fuck Imperials, but it when comes to killing I don't differentiate a lot who to kill, and seems Ulfric don't care when I shot him with my bow or hit with my sword and mace, no one comes to save him or to say me "You have commited crimes against Skyrim and her people", he don't even defends himself, he is also immortal.

he isn't immortal you're just a puny bug not worthy of his attention. thats why he didn't bother to defend himself, it'd imply you were some sort of threat

go fallout new vegas style: no gods, no masters!

but really, it doesnt matter all that much, just pick whichever you like better/agree with more. Imperials are authoritarian empire assholes and Stormcloaks are hella racist rebels. There is no "wrong" choice.

imperials are actually servants of the elfs :) because elfs conquered them and stormcloaks dont agree with that still being racism is not cool

I heard that the Stormcloaks are kinda of racist, and not much races are with them, and they force elves to live in the ghetto, I'm kinda not cool with that.

Not to mention that the Thalmor once had Ulfric imprisoned and released him on the basis that he go stir up a civil war.

thalmor are significantly more racist(and i'm pretty sure genocidal bbut i'd have to check) and the empire is helping them(at least in the short to medium term)

not like they don't accept non-nord members, and even a aldmer npc said once she proved herself they accepted her. so we see a couple dudes hassling a random drow when we first show up, the racisism is hardly endemic to the entire organization(ex ralof and his sister, hadvar and balgruuf never mention it despite making a point to say why you shouldn't join ulfric, ect)

the only things not to like about them were ulfric as an individual and that whiterun nonsense. windhelm was the only place they actually seemed racist to me and that felt more like the city being shitty than because it was a stormcloak city(doesn't seem to change once the empire gets it at any rate)

but either way to answer op's question the game just isn't nearly this in depth, the side you choose means didlly squat, its essentially identical in every way that matters, doesn't even really vary in flavor stuff.

imperials were going to kill me knowing i was innocent simply because their captain was pmsing and hadvar was going to let it happen like a pussy. ralof was a bro. too bad i can't murder ulfric and give the stormcloaks to ralof

, but literally 1 in 4 npc are immortal cause talos forbid I miss some random pointless fetch quest or shut myself out of the thieves guild i'm not joining anyway by killing maven. that whole essential npc thing seems like the laziest most hamfistted approach possible and they even had a good alternative in morrowind.

all they had to do was have them take a knee the first time you'd have killed them and once you beat them down again and they die it pops up one of those "threads of fate" warnings to let you know you shouldn't have done that and give a chance to reload.

speaking of riften there was totally a "clean up riften" shaped hole in the game, from mjnoll to maven's dialogue it was obviously something intended to be in the game at first and cut. the whole thing felt halfassed and incomplete, its like the hole game was being carried by "its so pretty" "gotta hoard all the cabbage" and "mods"

Honestly the Stormcloaks are stupid as hell. Ulfric just wants to do all this shit so he can be the high king, he doesn't really care about the stuff he says, he just wants people to join his cause. Also, they fail to realize that the Empire is the only thing keeping the Almeri Dominion out of Skyrim. So, if the Empire is defeated in Skyrim by the Stormcloaks, the Almeri Dominion (the high elves) are just going to come in and kick the piss out of everyone, the end.

If you play on the Imperial side, though, you're kind of blatantly told that the Empire is planning an assault on the Aldmeri Dominion to start the next war before they do. They only surrendered because if they hadn't, their people would have been wholly obliterated.

The Stormcloaks are stupid uncompromising assholes. Pick them only if you wanna roleplay being an asshole. Not to mention Michael Hogan being a badass, why would you not want to work for him.

The only way i'd work for the stormcloaks would be if they let me kill Ulfrick and take over.

not wanting to be racist you chose to side with polish dudes rounding up jews for the nazi. feeding into concentration camps hoping it'll buy the empire time. congratulations, only 10% of nords make it through the war because of you, nice genocide assist bro.

I chose the Stormcloaks. Sure, Ulfric is an ass, but I'm playing as a nord, so I would be even worse if I sided with those Imperial dogs. Plus Windhelm is my favourite city!

I could never bring myself to choose the Imperials side, no matter how many new games I started. I just don't like the Imperials, they should have to right to be in Skyrim. Also, they wanted to kill me at the beginning of the game... so NO!

Stormcloacks are nothing but a rebel scum, the Ulfric is a selfish arrogant bastard who doesn't care about the people, he only wants power. Also they are racist and persecute non-nord inhabitants. Also Skyrim not being a part of the empire would be an easy target for elves.

So, I always join the Imperial legion even if I'm playing as a Nord :) - legion is the only rightful security force on Skyrim.

But I still hate Thalmor, I kill every elf I run into

Oh and I really didn't like the last quest for the Dark brotherhood, SPOILER ALERT
