It forces you to install a third party app on your phone. $5 says they try to send some malware with it.

Wouldn't be surprised if it is 20TB of spam programs/emails/porn.

what if it's kinky asian porn? unless you're into that stuff too
Comment has been collapsed.
yo, I'm an Asian.
But I lived in the states for a while...I could have been contributing some of them searching wink wink

True true, I can totally understand why MILF and teen are on top of many lists.
And no, I aint into kinky stuffs....just the stuffs any normal human being would enjoy.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah, but most people looking for teenaged girls are unlikely to be that age themselves, so that'd be diving into what public opinion has deemed 'underage porn' which is almost on-par w kiddy movies :P
Back to the topic of free web storage... What did Google give you for installing their office thing? 15gigs?
Comment has been collapsed.
oh lord....I do not have to know that
now I have to go doing some research :(

20 Terrabyte is @#$% ridiculous amount of storage, huh?
So.....
you might want to fix your thread title with the real number: 2 TB
Comment has been collapsed.
I should also add that the Baidu storage is only 5 GIGAbytes, unless you connect their mobile app(android/iOS) to you account to unlock the 2TB. No doubt you will be getting spam on your phone. I don't have a modern phone OS, so I only have the standard 5GB from Baidu.
The 10tb from Tencent also requires you to install their app so they can track you and inject ads as well.

BTW: "360" is the Chinese equivalent to Norton Antivirus.
China has the most viruses/malware of any country in the world, and everyone uses 360.
Comment has been collapsed.
My dad uses it even though we have actual Kaspersky and Norton codes that lasts a year...=.=

Phone thing won't work when I login and I cant read it... :-/

After you log in the mobile app, you'll be prompted to enter your account name/email address and password. If it's the first time for the account on the app, you'll get some options like auto sync albums and stuff. You can swipe/toggle those off and then press the button or something on the bottom to continue to your dashboard iirc. Try pressing the appropriate redeem reward button on the storage site's promo page to see if the action was recognized (it should be pretty much instant). The home page for Baidu Cloud is yun.baidu.com and just Baidu Storage is pan.baidu.com

lol @ u guys talking about spyware / cyberattacks when almost all of you are using googledrives (NSA anyone?)
These companies are huge in china and are as profit motivated as google is. The risk may be there, but for 2 - 10TB free for life im willing to take it. after all it just requires the installation of a smartphone app, not any program on the computer.

Well let me add this. Do you know why most online services are blocked here in China, other than obvious trade protectionism to promote local business instead?
Because the PRC government has access to every single thing on servers from content providers on the "Chinese internet", unlike foreign services, so they aren't allowed here.
Your data will only be as private as it is irrelevant for anyone to care about.

Damn, thanks for that now I have 36TB online cloud storage xD
But I can't read a word, so either I'm gonna learn chinese or I find an option or a patch to get it in english^^

since we are talking bout privacy, google chrome is hardly a good idea.

Dropbox and 4shared provide more than enough free space for me already.

Dropbox is hardly better in terms of privacy. Possibly worse.

Thanks, now I'm able to download up to 2 TB of torrents at once for free :D

Stopping piracy isn't worth the effort, and there isn't just resources and time for it.
But governments have the resources. Though the risk do differ from person to person. I might probably be at high risk end of surveillance, if I end up working in TelCo-bussiness...

Unless Snowden is a liar, we now know that the spying is general and doesn't need a good reason to occur. The use of a keyword, or being friend with, or whatever, is enough. China can hardly be much different.
Some Keywords that will prompt US spying on you they totally don't care if your storage is in china
Keywords intercepted by china on Skype one might expect them to be spied on on other services.
Nobody is going to spy on you just like that. But write exercise, pork or china in a stored document and it's another story. Or if a friend of yours does.
The US spied over 70 million phone calls in france between the 10 December 2012 and the 8 January 2013, in germany 500 millions. How much more spying do you expect on internet ? You gonna tell me that there is no point in doing it so it's not hapenning ?
Comment has been collapsed.
US is a bitch, thus they like keeping track of everyone. China not so.
As for those keywords, that doesn't affect anything out of China, since it's their own "Skype". So if you don't use a China government-created service for stuff like social media, you are safe as about anywhere else on the Internet.
Comment has been collapsed.
So you think a Chinese company offering storage cloud is not going to auto detect such keywords for example ?
You think that Skype China is government created ? You think that all the US companies that have been infiltrated to put backdoors or security exploits were government created ?
And china not keeping track ? It's a joke right ? I know a bunch of people in china. One of them exchanged some mail criticizing the government, the whole family ended up in jail for a few days, being beaten up. And all the rest hasn't done anything but is scared like hell to say one word of criticism be it on internet or on the streets. The good thing about the US is that they don't use their powers the way china does. The funny thing is that nobody can guarantee it will stay this way, especially when one knows his History.
Funny fact : The US don't care if you use US or Chinese Services, they will check both.
Comment has been collapsed.
They can try to auto detect, but we ain't dumb.
China's government actually had a hand in creating all of the China "Internet", especially sites for social media. Even a variant of Google/Bing is there. As for the US companies, it's either having them or getting fucked up by the government.
First, it's their fault for using a chinese e-mail company. Second, they are dumb to actually send it. Third, they should have at least used some other way, so it's their own fault they got caught. And you really think the US doesn't use their power "the way China does"?
In fact, they don't care about the fact that the Internet doesn't belong solely to them now. They just care about trying to control it.

Hmmm, interesting.
However, sorry but I do not have any little faith in Chinese services. Thank you BTW

Run Android x86 in a VM. Not sure but you might even be able to install the APK while running it as a live CD.

If anyone is still interested in the 36TB of free space with Qihoo 360 I decompiled the android app and used google translate to roughly translate the chinese to english. Anyways, if anyone is interested copy and paste the link at the bottom of my post.
Also, in case anyone is wondering. Quihoo 360 is a very reputable company in China. They primarily make anti-virus software which you can find in the android app market by searching Qihu 360.

If you want it. Here's the English guide on getting the promotional 2 TB storage space from Baidu Cloud. Understanding Chinese helps.
Another service, Qihoo360 Cloud, offers 36 TB for downloading and signing in on the PC (10 TB bonus) and mobile clients (26 TB bonus). It also has daily log in prizes (click the yellow 每日抽奖 button on the top after logging in), tasks (such as uploading), and chances to roll for guaranteed prizes (unlimited space and physical prizes like iPhones and whatnot) daily for a month for the National Day of the People's Republic of China celebration in the form of more space. Yeah...they really want you to have a lot of storage.
Oh. Here's 10 TB from QQ/Tencent Cloud.
Apparently everyone is giving cloud storage away like candy for using their apps.
