Me neither. Steamgifts does seem to be running a little slow lately. The only browser I can get to open it is the Steam in-game browser.

Maybe your virus chooses to affect only one of your most-visited sites so that you blame the site instead of suspect that you have a virus. Or maybe it affects a list of sites and this is the only one on the list which you use. Whatever it is, you're definitely infected with something.

I think you have a warped perception of not only how much money ad revenue brings in, but also how much server upkeep can cost.
Here, let's do a little math. Here is the fundraising information from Wikipedia. You can see that it claims to serve approximately 492 million (492,000,000) people a month, and that if everyone reading the banner donated $5, they would only have to fundraise one day a year. If 492 million are served a month, that means an average of 16.4 million are served a day (492,000,000/30). So, if everyone who went to Wikipedia that day donated $5, they would receive $82 million. $82 million, just to keep the site up for a year. Obviously, SG is several orders of magnitude smaller than Wikipedia, but the point remains.

Ads like that are not normal on this site. Do a virus scan.

The site can sometimes be slow - but it's not very often. Though, the ad at the bottom is not normal. Your PC might be infected with some malicious software and it might contribute to site loading slower than it would.

It's been really slow for over a week for me. I'm using Chrome and am frequently getting "No data received" errors. And those are some funky ads. I only see a wide banner at the bottom and a square one also near the bottom by the recent forum posts.

it is likely that you are infected with adware. check if you have any unwanted extensions and do a full scan.

I have Adblock off for this site and I only have a small banner at the very bottom of the page.
You may want to run an AV scan, a Malwarebytes scan and do a Spybot scan+immunization. Failing that, test in Firefox or install ABP.

You are right. I looked into this and it turned out even though I have Adblock deactivated for SG NoScript and DoNotTrackMe still blocked some ads. Sorry if I caused you trubles/worries, I am glad your computer is clean. Also thanks for that nice web service, didn't know it.
Stay safe. :)

I would recommend you to run Malwarebyte's Anti Malware.

I need to refresh a minimum of 5 times to open a page on this site. It's not enough that you spam my screen with ads like this?. How many more ads you will put on the screen so we can get a good server?
/I refreshed a few times to be able to post this.
