Only played Dota 2. Its pretty fun, but i find the matchmaking to be horrid

This two games of the same genre, but they are totally different, to understand what is best for you, you have to play both games.
I played in Dota and LoL, and I liked LoL more, maybe because I'm playing LoL for a long time.

I'm coming from the DotA background, so that's probably why I prefer DotA 2 over LoL.
You needn't listen to anyone here - try it out yourself. There are plenty invites to DotA 2, so just ask someone (if you don't have anyone with an unused invite, I could gift you one). LoL itself is free of charge IIRC.
Try and compare and decide for yourself.

Both good and different.

depends... I would say they both offer different ways to play MOBA games. Dota 2 is harder in my opinion, but that can be a positive or a negative depending on how much time you want to dedicate to one game.

League of Legends imho :)

For one that has played DOTA 1, DOTA 2 and LoL, I would say LoL is more fun than DOTA 2, and doesn't have annoying Russians flooding your game if you're not in the same lump of servers as them.

Conclusion: THEY BOTH SUCK!

Both is fun for me.

Dota2

DotA2 - Its a boring game, has no atmosphere of the original DotA.
LoL - It's much better game in every aspect from my point of view.

Smite is better imo

After seeing the paths friends have taken, this is what I've seen:
1) Start with DotA, end at Dota 2.
2) Start with DotA, go to HoN, end at Dota 2.
3) Start with DotA, end at LoL.
4) Start with none, go to Dota 2, end at LoL.
5) Start with none, end at LoL.

My pathway was No. 2, but also because majority of my friends followed that route/followed the first route. Get some friends to play with, it'll be a better experience.
