I was just about to pre-order this game when I noticed they changed all of the Pre-order bonuses!
Yeah, Everything! Thanks SEGA!! -_-

No more TF2 Hats! No Dawn of War Retribution for tier 2 bonus! and No in-game currency to buy DLCs with (Tier 3)!

Sega just saved their selves some money, cause No way in hell I'm pre-ordering this game right now, I'll for a sale (probably on summer).

Store Page
PC Gamer's news about this change: clicky

EDIT: Oh and I forgot, Collectors Edition is no longer available either! Sega must hate money!

I wonder if I trade with someone who pre-ordered before this, I'll get the hats or not...?
Plus, It's not just about hats, there were lots of other bonuses too!

nope, you only would get em before they changed the bonuses, now the preorder is what it says.

The new preorvers are lised as V2.

So it's possible old copies will still give the old bonuses.

Hmm, Found a guy with Collectors edition in his inventory, but it doesn't say V1 or V2!
What gives? are you sure? I haven't asked him but his thread was made long before the change.
EDIT: found one with standard version that says V2. V2 is the new one, correct?

Naw...it's V1 and V2. Current pre-orders were named V2 for some reason...I'm sure if V1 was activated even today, they'd still get tf2 items.

When they announced the "in-game currency", they killed all my interest in the game

This same thing happened to Bioshock Infinite, all the rewards were gone, and the page was only showing the details about Industrial Revolution. The page changed 2-3 days later. Let's wait a few more days if the page changes, if not, too bad for the people who wanted the hats and the free copy of war-something.

It's not about a mistake/bug! When the ownership of the franchise was bought buy Sega from THQ, they made these changes to the pre-order bonuses! God knows what the hell they've done to the game! -_-

In game currency. Trolololol, p2w time: pay 2 win and play more 2 win

In game currency was/is for purchasing DLCs, like the ones that are on the new pre-order bonus.

In game currency was in the game far before SEGA bought the IP.

The development of the game didnt change at all if that is what you are afraid of. Furthermore, SEGA has been quite good for PC lately, and they are pretty damn good with the genre as can be seen with the Total War series. So yeh, the game will be as good as if it was published by THQ.

If that's true, then good. I guess you're right about Sega being good with Strategy genre too. but changing the pre-order bonuses was not cool at all!!

You do understand that they do not own the rights to some of the previous rewards and would have no way of giving them to people. Would it have been better if they kept them up and told you on launch day that they cant honor the promised rewards? I really don't get why anyone would rage over this, you had to see it coming.

I'd get it if they'd want to change the reward for tier 2 (DoW:RII) but there's no reason for changing the other rewards! Plus, I'm sure they could have gotten Dawn of War:R for pre-order bonuses even if they don't own the rights.
What about TF2 hats? What about the ingame currency?! etc...

They better honor the previous pre-orders with the promised bonuses. Otherwise its gonna be a problem. Pre-ordered for dawn of war bonus. Was almost there too, then this foolishness.

Contact steam, they'll probably refund you if you want. then you can wait till summer so you can get the game on sale.

I activated it without even a second thought because I had thought the pre-orders were the same. It was only until after activated the gift did I go to the store page and was like "WTF? Where'd the thingies go?". lolz :(

Considering Sega is not THQ, all I can say is DUH.
If they do not own rights to what was promised by THQ as pre-order bonuses, they couldn't very well give them to you.
As far as collectors/digital deluxe editions, can't begin to fathom the reasoning behind not offering them.

I'm just gonna copy my reply that I made to someone else, cause he said the same thing as you did:

DoW: R = money + time & agreement with whomever got the DoW ip
TF2 hats = money + time & additional agreement with Valve on top of base agreement (Valve/Steam distribution is cheaper than full Steam Works agreement)
Sega just spent a good chunk of money just buying the ip, giving away additional content already developed is essentially free.
