If we catch you aiding in such activities on sg you will be seeing a screen about a suspension for inappropriate behavior.

As far as the games that are steam redeemable from ubisoft's promotion we will carefully decide how to approach the matter.

Surely making giveaways for these games would be aiding in abusing the codes. Otherwise I don't know what you mean.

Does it count if I only take one copy and give it away here?

I'm pretty sure he's talking about people using proxies to bypass region restrictions and people who abuse the system with multiple accounts.

I getting from this is: so long as you got key its ok. If it turns out you got a bunch of keys, then you are abusing.

well i got only 1 key for myself and planned to give it away here but no sure (because of the new rule)

I had Shoot Many Robots, I got another copy and gave it away. I am facing a suspension?

I just wanted to know. I didn't feel like doing anything wrong. If that was the case, my most sincere apologies.

Shoot many robots is already on the exploited list, it will probably get removed or something.

Ok. I don't really care about the contributor value. If I'm not getting any I understand it and I think it's fair (After all the game was free)

I only wanted to make sure I'm not in danger of suspension. I wouln't want that for myself.

Think about it: You made a giveaway for a game you got for free and other people can get free (probably you also made another account). Is this right?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Being sincere I did that, I got a game for free and then gave it away ( Proof. I've already stated my point just above you. But I don't know, I don't really consider it being wrong although it's not completely right either. As I've said I don't want to mess around with contributor values, I was concerned about my account itself.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not about contributor value, it's about that you gave a game away that everyone who should get it (Europeans) can get it for free. If you wanted to give the game to someone who didn't got it (if he is from somewhere other) then it's not right because Ubisoft didn't want that these people should get it.

Why did you gave the game away?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I said it, so that people who could not enter could have a chance of having it. You may have a point, if Ubi did want them to get the game it would have been a worldwide promotion, on the other hand I claimed a game (Under the promotion rules) and once it was of my propierty I decided to give it away. I can't see any harm in that.

I understand your point, I only share it up to a point. Other thing would have been me giving away like dozens of those games. That would be very wrong.

I can understand you but it's still wrong and games are never your property (especially if they are on Steam or they are product keys).

And I agree on your second point (about giving many away).

However you did not consider that not everybody knows about these promotional codes, meaning that those who do not know do have a chance to get one of these games by using steamgifts instead of using the unknown code.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That was meant this way from Ubisoft and I'm sure almost all giveaways are just for the contributor value.

What is "aiding in such activities"? Is a thread about a promotion enough reason for a suspension or posts like "use a proxy" or "make multiple accounts"?

Can I please have an answer? <3

I agree. If you don't want to use the code to buy yourself/your friends a game. Don't use it.

Or atleast don't use it many times and open multiple accounts.

Events like whats going on at ubi are completely legitimate and should be promoted on SG

People just need to be more respectful of this site & learn its a gifting community and not one of exploitation. Do what you want! its your choice and freedom, but don't tarnish the reputation of this site discussing how and pushing it.

Looks like Ubisoft is doing one of those easily exploitable promo coupon deals.

I would assume that is the reason for the sudden explosion of RUSE lotteries here, along with other Ubisoft games like Bloody Good Time, Mad Riders, Shoot Many Robots, and Zeit2.

as i've said in the past, this is 'easy' to fix... dynamically adjust reward value based on how many copies of the game have been gifted in the last x days/hours/whatever, this creates an incentive to gift HIGH demand/RARE games and makes exploits such as this or imbalanced game value games rapidly devalue and thus provide a disincentive to do so. in current case, shoot many robots and the others would be valued at no more than 1credit because the gift market is flooded with them, while something extremely rare like skyrim would have an inflated value OVER its store value, making it more appealing. this also has the GOOD side effect of not blowing the hell out of the points being allocated to entrants.

This is how playblink does it, some games like Dota 2 and The Ship are only worth 1 point right now, while some games are worth up to their dollar cost in points

Is it safe to enter these giveaways? I notice a few of them have multiple copies and this seems to be exploiting the promo.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, I noticed that the promotional code basically gives you 10 dollar worth of items, so multiple copies could be still under 10 dollar or euro. That means that the game or product is worth < 5$, buying 2 of these is still under 10. Same applies; if the product is <3.33$, buying 3 of these is still under 10 etc.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This is a really good question actually...I may go start a thread on it that question (if one has not been started already)

I myself being from the USA, cannot access that promo so I have entered in a few of the contests from Games now on the exploited list...I have yet to win any of them, but should I stop entering the contests for those games?

Permalink

... Not that I have (and you can check my account and the code doesn't work where I live) what is Steam Gifts' stance on people abusing codes simply to add the game to their steam account and not gift it?

IMO, it's no matter to sg whether or not the person abuses codes to add games to their LIBRARY not inventory for sale / gifting?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They are only investigating those that abuse to giveaway. Can't really prove it if they just activate it on their own account. I would simply suggest to all to not giveaway the games form Ubisoft for now.
