So, for christmas I got gamescom tickets (hell yeah), now I know that gc is a pretty big fair, so, anyone got some advice what to watch out for/keep in mind?

I'm especially interested in what the best time for attending is in the morning as last year they had so many visitors they had to temporarily close the halls.

I know gc is due in 8 months, but I figured I got spare time right now.

Bring a basket of bananas then randomly throw it at people while wearing a pony suit. That's what i would do if i was in gamescom.

Alternatively, get a green dinosaur costume and ride a go kart while tossing the bananas at people.

Nice People at gamestar.de? I'm sorry, the most people i saw there are complete and utter morons.

On topic: Get as many Freebies as you can :) i got quite the collections from the olden days, when it still was called Games Convention and was in Leipzig.

Watch out, heard a lot of horror story about gamescom visits turning into a nightmare (mugging, rape and so on).

Gamescom isnt that special anyways, gets boring fast when they only have crap games (or games you arent interested in) showcased.

Bring me some LoL skin codes, heuheuheu. Just kidding, just enjoy the show and get excited for the upcoming games, I guess. There'll probably be some swag bags, so get 'em.

  1. Take a folding chair with you!
  2. Go early and rush!

I was there 2 times back when it was in Leipzig and it was pretty much a waste and back then games were much better. Standing in Queue for like 2hrs to play a new game for 15min is kind of a waste of time.
If you really want to play something get there as early as possible.

  1. A chair is very nice and useful. Personally I prefer a foldable tripod style chair, like the ones used for fishing.
  2. The weekend will be totally overloaded. Go on thursday, if at all possible.
  3. Take enough water. Refill your bottle in the bathrooms. The halls are climatized, but the crowd will be huge. Do not get dehydrated.
  4. Food is incredibly expensive, so bring some from home. I usually bring an MRE.
  5. Before you go make a checklist containign everything you want to see, then work through it. Find out what events there will be and attend them if they interest you. Be there at least half an hour before they start so you get a good place. This year I got Ed Boon to autograph my 3DS which made it 200% more awesome.
  6. When a developer does a stage show the queues for the games usually empty somewhat, so if you time that, you will cut your waiting time by several hours.
  7. Want to play one of the popular games (your Battlefields, MoHs, Blizzard games, what have you)? I hope that's all you want to do this day, because that's all you will be able to do. If you really need to do that, get in line early. On that note...
  8. Be there before they open, get a good spot in front and swiftly make your way to the exhibit you're interested in the most/that you anticipate will be crowded the most. I never ran as such, but do be decisive.
  9. The booth babes have no idea. Do not ask them. There are very few exceptions.
  10. It will be loud. Very, very loud. If you'Re sensitive, bring earplugs.
  11. This is about having fun. If you're not having fun anymore, chill outside for a while or go home. It's a mass event and no matter what you do, it will take its toll on you. Be aware of that.

Oh, and 12. Do NOT pay anyone for his/her place in line. Those people suck.

Thanks you VERY much for this. I already figured some of those points, but e.g. 6 I wouldn't have thought of.
