Well, the puzzle (a few topics lower on the forum page) would have become pointless otherwise for those investing effort in it.

On your puzzle post you write "You've all done the drill" well I think that is not the case with me. Seems like very few puzzles around here click and make sense for me, like I missed the day everyone got handed a cipher book. I figured out what the last name is for #1, but I have no idea what to do with that since I need a #. Also, number two is just a letter. I feel like this should be relatively easy, if I'd ever gotten an intro on what kind of and direction the logic around here comes from.

I appreciate that info, but what I said still stands. Is there maybe an older, finished, giveaway puzzle that is explained somewhere on the forums? Then maybe I could think more like you do on these. But, as it is, there's too many pieces of the logic missing for me, at least.

im not quite know this #XXxXX format. never solved any steamgift puzzle in fact. but im glad that i immediately know clue number 5.

The format gives the way the URL looks like.
If you see # = This character is a number.
X = This character is an UPPERCASE letter.
x = This character is a lowercase letter.
The clues are in order unless otherwise stated and each one leads to a character in the URL. The URL format is given to make it easier for those who try to solve the puzzle to figure out what they need to do.

that was helpful. :)
and then i need to add biturl orl tinyurl at the start right?

It depends on the giveaway. If there is no other indication, the typical action is to first try this format:
http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/#XxXX
Only after this (or if the author mentions it's a bit.ly or tinyurl link, of course) do you move on to other stuff.

For me answer is simple:
1) I'm too dumb to solve the puzzle
2) Even if I did, I wouldn't be able to run this game on my ancient PC :P

It's quite full of hints at this point in my comments for each question, from the first and second to the last. There are certain patterns in what I say, as there are everywhere in nature, which you need to follow. The letters and numbers you need to input are also the first from whatever clues you discover, as has been the template so far.
There is one step where some credit does go to thejadefalcon for the idea.
Relax. Read. Relate. Resolve. Rejoice.

sigh If you want people to enter, try making it a little less of a pain in the ass to find it?

"Plus, I'm not interested in MANY people finding it, I'm interested in those who'd really LIKE the game finding it."
So, you don't care about people entering it, but you're advertising your giveaway anyway?
logic=flawed.
