...it's really very frustrating. I had links and recommendations and everything!

Copy your post, before clicking "Submit Comment", I started doing this after few times all I wrote just disappears because site is lagging and page doesn't load.

Doesn't really help when the thread is closed.

Get the Lazarus add-on, saves/recovers everything you type in text boxes.

Ok, should be useful.

Yes! The Lazarus add-on is great!

Thanks to bobofatt for making me discover that Lazarus has been ported to Chrome. I'm going to file this under "Things I wish I had known sooner."

Oh WOW, thanks dude, I know the feel when everything is lost and you can't type the whole thing again ... Is very frustrating :'[

God, I wish I had known something like that existed before. On at least ten occasions (that's as high as I can count), I've lost long posts on various sites because of site errors or the drunken mashings of my sausage fingers.

+1 for Lazarus

Yeah, but that's a hassle. I wish the site would have spit back an error without deleting everything I spent time writing. Then I could have sent the guy a direct message with the information.

Instead, it was lost instantly forever.

You should totally report his thread and have it re-opened.

Haha, why? The links and research and everything I wrote is already gone. I'm not going to do it again.

i did not even know that such a program existed

i have had that happen a couple time usually if i close a post i say it then wait a couple minutes but sometimes that is not even enough like you in your case it took a bit to reply

usually the forums i belong to only mods can close a forum and that was rare they would if it was not spam/breaking rules and well most now have a save feature that saves what you type though i guess that does not help when it is closed?

you could always copy and paste what you wrote into something like notepad in case something goes a miss you will have what you typed in case you needed it

This happens to me quite a bit. Another thing I get, occasionally, is when I accidentally hit the "Back" button on my mouse and it goes back a webpage, erasing everything in the process.

My previous laptop had back/forward BUTTONS right on the keyboard. Accidentally hit the wrong key? You lose everything forever. It was awful.

I've also accidentally hit BACK on the mouse right-click menu. It happened so fast! :-(

I'm so glad I'm not alone.

I've just gotten in the practice of opening threads in a new tab so there is no 'back' or 'forward' for my mouse buttons to go to. :c

Hmm, I have an old habit of copying long replies to the clipboard, just in case... But usually, by the time I reply to something it's already been answered better by someone else, so there's not much point. :) Oh well. :)

Aha, just caught myself doing control-a and control-c before I hit the "Submit Comment" button. :)

I have the extension mentioned below, but having the text I was going to reply with does me no good, as the topic closed and I have no place to PUT the text.

So it was just wasted effort.

It's worse when you're chatting on the Steamgifts group chat during the trivia, and the moderator locks the chat.
I fucking hate trivia... ._.
