November - Steam Releases vs. Bundle List Additions

I'll be doing this monthly now - it will be interesting to see if bundle list additions ever start exceeding the number of new games in the Steam store. October thread is here.

This month, there were 84 items added to the bundle list (or should have been added this month). This number does not include paid DLCs for games that cost money, but does include paid DLC for free to play games (Pinball FX2, LotR:O, Gotham Imposters). I believe that the Pinball tables appear in the new release section, but regular DLCs (for the Hacker games, Batman AO) do not. I could be incorrect.

In the same amount of time 81 games were added to the Steam store, not including 16 early access games. On release, early access are listed again under new releases, so there is no need to double count.

Looks like I spoke too soon - it seems like we've already reached a point where bundle list additions are pretty much equal or greater than the number of new Steam releases.

I noticed, that you recently made some "complaining comments" about bundles, here and there.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but you are doing all of this because you want to prove how bad the bundle system is and you want the CV removed?

Well, I don't really think I need to prove how bad the bundle system is - I'm sure everyone knows already. The reason I'm doing this is because 2 months ago, a couple of people were asking whether we would eventually run out of games that are not on the bundle list - this is an argument that seems to come up on all of the threads complaining about CV.

Meh, no need to worry atm. If bundle list is growing at a rate of 3 entries/month. Then that is negligible atm with the current number of all entries(games/dlc) that is on steam catalog.

80+ bundle additions per month? Wow, that is, for some weird reason, actually scary. Not regarding this site and its CV values whatsoever, just in general scary. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong, but it does look a bit like the videogame crash of the '80s, right? Too much stuff to offer, usually for dirt cheap? People slowly losing interest because of over-saturization of the market?

The different economical environment could mean anything though, maybe this won't even affect a thing. God I hope it won't.

According your data you actually counted paid DLC for paid games in the bundle List. Also counting pinball x-times but not counting dlcs for paid games seems not to be correct, but serves your purpose, right?

I think I included Pinball, LotR:O, and Gotham Imposters, which are all free to play. I'm not entirely sure if they get places on the new release page, which is why I have that statement.

I think I miscounted something. Not including any DLC whatsoever gives 76 additions, including the previous three stated gives 86.

Interesting. I'd like to see these every month. Maybe I'll even keep a chart of these results once there are enough reports brought out
