The new gifter's guide to gifting:

Basics:

• This is your library. You already own these games, you cannot gift them.
• This is your inventory. You have purchased these games but HAVE NOT tied them to your own account.
• Click this or this to view your inventory. These are the games you can gift to others.

NOTE: if you've WON a giveaway, you will see a green banner on your homepage, or any giveaway page you visit.

Purchasing the gift:

• When you purchase a new game, you can either Purchase for yourself, or purchase as a gift.
• "Purchase for myself" puts the game in your library.
• "Purchase as a gift" gives you these options to either send it immediately, or store it in your inventory to send later.
• You should select Store the gift in my inventory to send later.

Creating the giveaway:

• After you have purchased a game and stored it in your inventory, click the Create a Giveaway link.
• Fill out all of the important stuff and click "Create your giveaway" at the bottom of the page.
• Confirm all of the info, and click the "Confirmed" button at the bottom.
• Wait until your giveaway ends. Go post on the forums or in chat; be friendly.

NOTE: If an item doesn't appear in the drop down menu on the giveaway creation page, do not submit it under a similar name. Search on the forums to learn more.

Sending the gift:

• After your giveaway has ended, the winner will show up on your created giveaways page. You have one of two options when sending the gift...
• Option 1: Copy the winner's email address (blacked out for privacy), head over to your inventory, select the prize and click 'send gift', and paste in the email address from your created giveaways page.
• Option 2: Add the winner to your friends list, and invite him or her to a trade when you're both online.
• After you've either sent the gift (Option 1) or traded it (Option 2) to the winner, make sure to tick the "I Sent This Gift" box on your created giveaways page.

That's it! Congrats. You've successfully given something away, hopefully to a nice person who appreciates your efforts. Feels good, right?
