Greetings community,

Instead of temporarily suspending members for creating these giveaways and then removing them, we're going to try a different approach. Each of these giveaways consisting of Shoot Many Robots beta keys will be manually set by me to Not Received. This will cause a hit on submitter feedback and this will be permanent. Please do not submit guest passes or beta keys that aren't whitelisted in our FAQ. Thank you for your cooperation.

-best regards

Going through all previous Monday Night Combat giveaways. These will also be marked as Not Received.

Yeah that would be good. A lot like the one that is in place for when your giveaways end or you win a giveaway. Making people click to make it go away would be even more effective.

i think there should be a warning on giveaway page when choosing these games on create a giveaway page

Maybe users should just read the forum. Since, y'know, that's where the rules, faq, and everything important are located.

The forum is a busy, hectic place. Especially if you don't realize that you can SEARCH it. I just realized this. I thought the search box would search games, not the forum.

better idea - ban them. less efford and some smart asses lesser ;)

loko, one question. If you set manually something as 'not received" can it be later set as 'received' by a person who received it?

This should also be done to those who create giveaways using bundle keys.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, they should just be banned.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You do know that bans are temporary right? Depending on the severity of their offense. Also, most of these key submitters only do so to get more contributor amounts so this would be their #1 deterrent.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh, I thought that there were also permanent bans.

In that case: both should be done (temp ban + marked as "not received") - of course only for those that did this more than once.

Temporary bans are a good thing, you just need to place a right period of being banned.

Submitting individual bundle games. Temporary ban to 2033.

When they return it'll be...The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

I think should be deleted instead than marked as not received, or marked as "canceled".

I've seen many mass key gifters get their giveaways deleted. They then resubmit those same keys as 1 hour giveaways (shortest giveaway time permitted) and hope to sneak through undetected by the mods. They usually succeed too.

And when they check out closed giveaways, no escapes

They usually just get a verbal warning. I submitted over 70 support tickets on mass key giveaway offenders with their giveaways/profile links showing ample evidence. I stopped submitting tickets when almost all of them were let off the hook even when they resubmitted those same keys as giveaways hours or a few days later.

But the problem with those people is that maybe they got key from somewhere else. Like bought a Steam retail key somewhere for a random game which have been in a bundle. Like Killing Floor - I can buy it somewhere else (Greenman Gaming, Gamersgate etc.), get Steam key, make a giveaway. But since KF was in a bundle my giveaway would just get "Not received" even if I send the key to winner. System has got some minuses already.

Most people that submit legitimate keys for giveaways usually state on their giveaways where they got it from. Most of the illegitimate ones you can tell when you click on their profile and you see recent giveaways as Ironclads, Beat Hazard, Razor 2, Making History, etc with their inventories set as private. When I submitted Bad Rats and Hack, Slash, Loot as giveaways (both were tradeable/giftable copies) I stated that they were items in my inventory on the description and also kept my inventory public so people could see since they were also in past bundles.

You are always allowed to give away game or beta keys through the forum or chat as long as it's not a referral code/link.

This kind of announcement should really be pasted on the main screen of this site. In the same location as the "You won a giveaway!" announcement. In the same color too.

That way people will actually see it.

Also, isn't Shoot Many Robots already out? Where are these beta keys coming from?

Obvious flaw here: The winner can just change the feedback back to received.

I'm pretty sure that's what happened here - I recall that it was "not received" before and the guy had 0% positive feedback. Hell, all 3 of his giveaways are against the rules.

Permalink

I see what you're saying about the flaw, but Monday Night Combat isn't against the rules. SMNC is.

I have a strong feeling that if loko sets something on the site, a user cannot override that.
