I know, I know, "I'm an evil hustler and I give no hints", but still, I can name you 10 shows fitting the description. And I don't even watch many tv series... Got first 5, #8 and #10 instantly though. (ok, I had a typo in #8 >.>)

I started naming them while also typing them into your puzzle and got it >.> Though my definition of 'older' was a little more strict than yours, so it'd seem.

Since I have no progress with #7 (although I'm using very dirty method, yet acceptable with SG/your rules ;)) I hope you won't mind if I post an answer here.

It's Sherlock. This series is perfect, in my opinion. I love every single aspect of it. Everything just works out so fine, perfect transition of sir A. C. Doyle's stories to modern times(=> plot, characters), very cleverly written dialogues, acting (GOD, THE ACTING. Cumberbatch as Sherlock is perfect, so much better than Robert... same goes with Moriarty), all the little details directors/screenwriters put into the show (watch it, you'll understand) etc. etc.

It has only 6 episodes (although each episode is like a (well, almost) full-length movie, with its length being 90 minutes), so even if someone doesn't have time for TV series, he'll have time for this. I am not alienated with my opinion, here you can see it as #6. best rated TV series on imdb (#1 and #5 are documentaries, so in reality it's 4.)

For the next time - just check creator's profile, if he has no more than one running private giveaway, then just check when it will be over. Otherwise you may compare number of solvers to entries.
