A friend of mine is banned on steamtrades and because of that he's banned on steamgifts too, my question is why is he banned on steamgifts he hasn't done anything wrong here. Also didn't find anything about that in faq

Because both sites belong to the same network and make use of the same account database.

But he hasn't done anything wrong here... (steamgifts)

Both of the sites use the same data, thus if you are banned on one, you are banned on the other.

Well, I understand that but what I'm saying is he hasn't done anything wrong here he has done something wrong on steamtrades, and I couldn't find it on the FAQ either.

Then you do not understand. It's basicly the same site, with two faces, just like a coin. You can't ban someone from a single face of a coin, you have to restrict his access to the entire coin.

Not to mention how you can also kill someone with a coin if you drop it from the top of Empire State Building

Well, to tell the truth, you don't even need to drop the coin to kill someone with it.

What if i swing it, not just drop it?

Because the 2 sites are owned by the same person and thats how he wants things. Personally I have no issues with that. I once worked for a place with 6 different game servers. Get banned on one, you got banned on all of them. Pissed off people to no end, but they quickly realized that we didn't screw around when it came to bans.

If someone is a jerk somewhere, he'll probably be a jerk in other places too.

he isn't really a jerk, he just wanted to trade something (what he didn't know) wasn't allowed.

If that something was something he won here on SteamGifts, that would explain everything. Otherwise, as has been said, they're directly affiliated sites under the same ownership; do something bad on one, you're liable to be penalized on both. Simply that

He wanted to trade a account, yes he didn't read steamtrades FAQ at first, but he thinks he closed the thread himself, He didn't trade them yet, but a life long supspendion is a little hard, 30 days maybe, he has contributed alot here too...

if he wanted to trade an account he should be happy that Steam didnt close his accounts

not accounts with 100 games though, just idle accounts...

why would one trade idle accounts? They have nothing important on it. Thats even more fishy. And for Steam it doesnt make a difference, account trading is simply not allowed and I think for a good reason.

tf2 idle accounts, you can't idle 5 accounts at once anymore, that's why there are still people idling with more accounts, but that takes alot of time.

Yeah...why would anyone buy an account for a free game. Either your friend was very stupid or he thought others are even more stupid.

you need to buy a item from the store, which you need to add 5 dollar for.

Technically not free, as the game would have to be premium.
Not that the cost to get it premium is something worth a trade.

"..you can't idle 5 accounts at once anymore, that's why there are still people idling with more accounts.."

How in the hell does this sentence make sense?? "You can't do this anymore, so that's why there's still people do this on a larger scale"?¿

Users have been permanently suspended on SG for making giveaways in which they intended to give an idle account with the game activated on it.
I personally can not see how this would differ all too much from trading away idle accounts. So it is my opinion that your friend's suspension is warranted.
Of course your friend may attempt to plead his case to cg by creating a support ticket if he hasn't already.

He also didn't read Steam Subscriber Agreement too, I guess? Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who read those agreements, terms of services etc -_-

Specifically: "You may not sell or charge others for the right to use your Account, or otherwise transfer your Account, nor may you sell, charge others for the right to use, or transfer any Subscriptions other than if and as expressly permitted by this Agreement (including any Subscription Terms or Rules of Use)."

Well, he should have read the TOS of the account.
Most TOS states you cannot trade, sell, or transfer ownership of accounts

It's highly doubtful that there's anything so inefficient and desync-prone as "cloning" happening, far more likely there is just a single forum database and the domain name determines which threads to show in the main forum list.

^^ check out the brainwaves on Delta

You can change the domain in the address bar in between the two forums and the post will appear to be on the other site.

You can also go to a profile and change the domain and you get the profile for the other site, because they're the same account. It's impossible to only ban from one site the way the system is setup, because it's one account.

You say he hasn't done anything wrong in either SteamGifts and SteamTrades, so you mean to say he was suspended for no reason? Take it to support then.

I say that he has done something wrong on steamtrades, (he didn't know and his thread did get closed by himself (he thinks), so he didn't trade) and it's a lifeban so he can't use steamgifts forever now.

It is one system, if he fucks up at one part of the system: ban everywhere.

The forums are not the place to ask questions about a ban either way. Nor is it appropriate for anyone to attempt to plead for someone else's ban. If that person violated the rules, which they did on multiple fronts, including Steam itself, that is their fault. Questions on a ban should be submitted to support.

I'm not asking about the ban itself, about that he gets banned on both sites.

Try picturing sg as the right side of a stick and st as the left side of a stick. We all just get one stick and when we break a rule on one of them, that side gets taken away. So your friend got the left side of his stick taken away. But what is this, the left side still remains because half of the right side became the new left side. So to take away all the left side, the whole stick is taken away.

Likely because the network has the same (or consistent) TOS throughout. You're gonna get banned across the network if you break a rule that matters to either side of the site.
