Sooooo! I did it, my project "Rage" is finished and I was able to collect all 50/50 Steam achievments.

All Achievments

First of all I have to admit that I was going with very low expectations into this game! Because most of the reviews Ive seen and the opionions of several people I was listening to pointed out the same facts:

Solo campaign way to short..

Graphic issuses on most known cards + lags on high end systems..

The RPG elements of the game dont fit very well into the gameplay..

This were just a few of the points I had to listen in reviews and lets plays.

Maybe I have to mention that those reviews were made when the game was released, since the graphic issuses got fixed for the most people with some patches.

Due to this bad response from other gamers I waited until it wasnt a big act for my paypal cash to buy this game, I bought one week ago the casual Rage Edition with the Severs DLC for 12,99 from a trusted seller on ebay.

The download was kinda big in my eyes..19gb. But I believe thats casual for the games these days. As much as I heard they needed 2 Discs for the Xbox version of the game^^

So back to the facts: As I started playing I realised soon that I couldnt find any of the mentioned graphic issuses I have been told by so many players. Some models popped up to late, thats true, but I fixed the problem in 20 seconds while configurating my graphic settings.

Alright..

The whole gameplay feels realy fast and not to hard to learn. You have soon the "know how" to kill mutants and other bandits going on your nerves.

Maybe at this point its good to mention that I have finished the game on NIGHTMARE difficulty. Its the hardest one of four you chould choose and let me say, it was everything else than a nightmare. Sometimes I did whole missions only with the pistol because I wanted them to have at least a chance to get me down for once. If they finally made it to bring me down for once its not a big problem because you have a self ressurection tool rdy for combat what brings you back to life (10 minutes cd as much as I know) and kills all enemies around you.

I tryed to get into the game and let my self all the time I need to explore everything and do every sidequest, well...Not too much to do in Rage if you dont own the Severs DLC at all.. This DLC adds 3 or 4 sidequests which keep you busy for like 2 hours or stuff. Exploration is a hint in the loading screen...Too bad there is nothing to explore, you have to visit all the locations anyway sooner or later because you have mainquests there, so its not needed to explore on your own. What you can get you a little advantage in the game is if you look out for the very rare plants in RAGE, because they are able to boost your maximum HP. But I dont want to spoiler too much.

All in all the story is as bad as my mates told me, but come on. Did we care about the story in Doom ? Did we care about the story in Quake? No, we didnt and the games were still awesome and totally badass, so is RAGE!

Another point about the difficulty is, that the most challenging part of the game were the racing missions and the minigames. There are several minigames that made me want FLIP OUT AND SMASH MY PC ONTO THE WALL!!11!!11

The racing aspect in the game is real fun and feels actually better like in other standalone post nuclear shoot em up racing games! Best part is the racing can be done online aswell vs real player!

Multiplayer

Well, as described some lines above you can drive vs real ppl online, which is a bit difficult since almost nobody plays online in RAGE. And you can play a complete seperate coop campaign online, which is a bit more challenging than the solo campaign. The coop missions are a lot of fun and with the integrated voice chat its easy to communicate. The servers are stable and you dont even lag a bit as much as I experienced.

My thoughts after finishing the game..

First of all, my mates were right, the story is completly unimportant and pretty much nonsense, way too short and forgettable.
But the crafting system where you can craft ammo,robots and supps that help you getting those mutants handled is very easy to learn and thats WHY it makes so much fun. I dont need to open the explorer in the background to get this shit handled..No you can just play the damn game and enjoy it. You craft stuff that pwns and feel like a baws while doing it. In addition all the weapons ingame, make balanced damage, except the last one maybe....But I wont spoiler :)

My result: This game is very good and not as bad as many reviews want you to think about RAGE. For 10-15 bucks everybody SHOULD PICK THIS GAME UP! Maybe its just my opionion about this game, because solo sctionshooter with RPG elements is by far my favorite genre: ala Bioshock, The Darkness and even Stalker maybe, but this game is very underrated. Maybe Im just a ID fanboy and I love this engine RAGE is made with, (Id tech 5 engine) but you really should check it out!

So...that was my little review about rage, I really enjoyed playing this game and telling you my opinion about it^^ And I hope I could maybe force 1 of 2 or you to buy this game on the summer sale maybe, so the community grows that play this game online.

All the screens were made on my own, it took me almost 40 hours to complete all achievments.
