Greetings community,

I feel that we can no longer avoid these types of giveaways considering the size and recent activity of our community. Effective immediately:

  • Extraneous/special rules for giveaways require moderator approval. Public giveaways cannot have any special rules.

If members would like to make appropriate rules on who is eligible to join and win, you must receive the consent of site moderators before creating the giveaway. Otherwise, we will not reroll for a new winner of your giveaway(s). Do not PM moderators directly over Steam, we will respond to these requests only through Support tickets. These giveaways will be created at the submitter's risk.

We take suggestions and thoughts from the community seriously. If there is popular demand for an appropriate and fair change in policy, we will respect those wishes and now welcome back this breed of giveaway.

-best regards

Scratch that, asian eyes making me look like a fool.
So public ones can't have rules, and private ones require approval.

No, this rule from what I can tell only applies to private giveaways.

Public giveaways are the only type that cannot have extraneous/special rules.

I don't think someone who's been here for a mere week should try and troll someone who's donated over $1000. It kind of makes you look like a massive prat who will never be a wanted part of the community.

I get the feeling I'm at least part of the reason this policy change was necessary, so I apologise for any inconvenience I caused. I agree that checking in with a moderator first would have been the smart thing to do.

Thanks for the approval though.

Will people who are openly entering the giveaways (because they are trolls/assholes), without meeting the requirements, be punished?

I think losing their points and, if they win, having the "You've won" banner be ripped away from them is punishment enough.

Why did you pick this thread to ask that in? a_a

Can we still require reroll (without previous approval) if the person obviously did not deserve to win the giveaway?

What I mean is :

  • they only obtained the necessary contributor requirements through shady 2-entries never-redeemed expensive game packs group giveaways.

  • they did not redeem previously won games.

  • they entered for a game pack owning all the games (hinting that they will want to regift it or make money out of it...).

Or any such sort of rule-breaking behaviour?

The mods will have to approve the reroll either way. If they're a rulebreaker, actively, and you don't like that, submit a reroll. You'll either be told to hand the game over to the winner, or the reroll will go through.
