More GFWL invasion: Age of Empires Online appears on Steam.

Age of Empires Online Steam sale

Played this a bit some months ago. While it can be fun, you should probably only get into it if you are willing to buy at least one civilization. Otherwise, while playing F2P, you will quickly and noticeably hit your head on the glass ceiling and lose interest.

Personally, I decided against investing in it and just moved on to other, better games.

Reminds me of the times when people still played AoE and AoE 2. I still have my gold disc of AoE lying around somewhere, with the expansion. And I still remember that the cheat code for the car of awesome was "bigdaddy". Amazing game.

Edit: Basically, the F2P is a demo/ruse, and you are to buy the game in chunks.

I wouldn't imply that Gates is personally behind the poor pricing for the AoE:O DLC, but Microsoft in general sucks.

EDIT - That is, when they're not making operating systems, like good workers.
GFWL is terrible.

GFWL is the best of the unnecessary addons though, since you can just set it to be offline and turn all the stupid stuff off if you want.
