They have to be synced once a week.
To sync the profile you have to switch it to "public".
Why would you want to exclude people that like their privacy from giveaways?

Because you will never know if they activated the games they won or not.

SG would know after the next sync.
AFAIK cg is already working on checking the profile if the games that you won have been activated.

coming feature: in addition to checking your library and groups, the sync will also check if you have redeemed the gifts you have won.
People already thought of this (search function) and as I stated above: AFAIK cg is already working on this feature.

And as I've said, the mods DON'T always ban everyone who trades away games they've won, and this IS A PROVEN FACT. Gifters should have the right/ability to make sure their generosity isn't being abused, don't you think? Even if the mods won't do anything, at least gifters should have that information so that they can decide what they want to do about it...

maybe they will be auto banned or the sync will refuse to complete the progress until they have registered the game to their library?
I don't say that rules should not be enforced, I am totally with you on this.
I am just saying that excluding people with private profiles is not the way to do it.

Well, then there are only 2 viable options. 1: mods rigorously start enforcing the rules or 2: like the contributor function, allow gifters to make their giveaways open-profile only, and give some power back to gifters to choose if they care or not about whether winners add the game to their account or not. That would be fair, no? People keep their privacy, and gifter get fair rights.

So ... you do not like the idea of an automated feature that has yet to be implemented?
Making a giveaway for "public profile users only" would not solve the probleem in my opinion.
Because there's also a chance that people with public profiles trade games they have won away.
Then the sync could also check if users with public profiles have redeemed the won games - and if they have not after 1 week, then they could be excluded from using the site, until the game is in their library.
Automation!
Mods have enough to do with other stuff.

What does that have to do with anything being discussed? It's mainly about ensuring winners add the games they win to their library. On a privat profile, they are protected and can freely trade their won games and no one would know. Sg only stops you entering giveaways you have in your library, not games on your win list.

lol What privacy rights? I can already see your username, anyway. What personal information are you people exactly posting on your profiles that you need to hide from the rest of the community? No. The only reason why some of you're hiding your accounts is because you assholes are taking advantage of others people's generosity by selling or trading the games you get on here.

Because I tell all my friends that I play Amnesia, when in reality I play SotMC :3

Then you shouldn't be allowed to enter giveaways website if you need to hide that your inventory. That has nothing to do with your privacy. It has all to do with scammers hiding their activities. I am not raging, bub. I am just calling out your bullshit "logic".

You're being so offensives right here... I keep my profile private because I don't like scammers seeing my tf2 or gift inv and trying to scam me (not that its any of your business). Steamgifts has ALWAYS upheld the policy that they will not require public profiles, even in the face of better arguments than yours. So please stop insulting me and others who value privacy, and learn to view things from other points of views

Every week's accounts are Sync. And I guess if that pass, people cant login before Sync it.
So I don't see where is the problem on it...
"Note: We require all registered users to have their Steam game library synced with our site. If your profile is public, this will automatically be done on a regular basis. For those using a private or friends only profile, you'll be able to bring your account up-to-date by briefly switching to a public profile for a few seconds a week. This is done to prevent users from entering giveaways for games which they already own."

I am just asking for an option to prevent private profiles from entering my giveaways. It's as simple as that.
If i choose to exclude a particular group or person from my giveaways, then i should be able to do so. There's no reason for people to hide their profiles. If you are posting personal information on your Steam profile, well, that's your fucking problem. Not mine.

I know; I agree with you in that sense. However, to have an option to prevent private profilers from entering/seeing a giveaway would require constant syncing with Steam...I don't think the SG server nor Steam would enjoy that very much.
As for private profiles; I can understand why some people (like cg or other admins/mods) would privatize their profile, as it would private mass spammage of their profiles. Perhaps some people just enjoy their privacy? shrug

Lest see...
1)People can't enter in giveaways of games they already have.
2)All have to Sync their steam acc here every weeks, or can't enter in giveaways.
3)If you don't redeem a game you have win and market as received you get ban.
I think this is a non problem...

If the problem is that the "mods don't always ban people who they know have given away or traded games", what exactly does forcing everybody to have a private profile accomplish ? How does it help you to see if it has been activated or not ?

In worse case scenario, after the winner market that received the game, one week later the winner have to Sync his account. If the game its not in his game list, it should get a warning, and after some time get banned. I'm new here so still don't know how all the things work :)

I really don't see how you would want this implemented? Does the user have to have their profile public when they enter your giveaway? They could change it to public for a few seconds and then back. The same thing for when the giveaway ends. This would be time consuming for them but they could still change their settings as they wanted.
Also I'm pretty sure that there are scammers with public profiles and honest people with private ones. Having it one way or the other doesn't mean anything.

Why are private profiles still allowed to access this site and partake in the giveaways? I think it's time that you start restricting access to those accounts.
