A Red Letter Day

REDDIT.COM - 27,000 fans play Half-Life 2

A MESSAGE TO VALVE

The lack of communication between Valve and the Half-Life community has been a frustrating experience. While continued support for current and future products is greatly appreciated, fans of the Half-Life series have waited years for a word on when the franchise will return.

So, Instead of focusing efforts in a negative and disrespectful way, we have decided to gain Valve's attention by delivering a basic message:

Your oldest and longest running fanbase would like better communication.

Waiting patiently for over four years is a daunting task, especially when E3 comes and goes without any beat of a Half-Life pulse, time and time again. Valve had stated that information was scheduled to be released towards the end of 2008, and we believe that if they have chosen, for whatever reason, to withhold this information, fans should at least be acknowledged in some way, regardless of developmental plans for the next Half-Life project.

The entire trilogy of episodes was supposed to be completed and released by 2007, and if Valve have decided to do other things for the time being, that is fine; all that we ask for is a basic response on the matter, and to let fans know whether or not the current story arc is scheduled to conclude at another point in time.

In addition: This message is in no way, shape or form attempting to rush the development of the Half-Life series; in fact, most members agree that Valve should take the time needed to deliver a complete and polished product.

If you agree with the above message and statements, please join this group and share your support constructively.

Hopefully such attention will be recognized by Valve, and the community's voice will be heard.

11:00 to 11:30am PDT? Isn't that supposed to be used during the summer? Gawd, I hate timezones. :/

Nothing wrong with timezones, it's the DST (Daylight Savings Time) that screws people up.

Half-Life games have always been revolutionary... I respect Valve for making such games and not releasing games every year to cash-in on their customers. I believe that waiting is worth it if what we will get is the best that could be offered.

I would care if Valve did nothing for the past 4-5 years, but they didn't.
Instead they brought us amazing games like the Left 4 Dead series, the Portal series , Alien Swarm and are still updating Team Fortress 2 while adding new features (and fixing bugs) to Steam..
I love the Half-Life series, I have since I played the first game when I was 11, but at least Valve is gave and will continue to give us amazing games to play while we wait.

We're not against Half Life 3... we want it! Kotaku just used a misleading headline to nab as many views as possible. They're lacking in integrity in that way.

And sadly it has only gone down from there. This only shows how little backbone most people have.

Yeah the fact that only THOUSANDS of people played a game for no real reason really says something...

People are awesome and can accomplish things when they work together :)

Don't get me wrong, it's cool so many played it, I did to also and it got some great PR.

But I'm a bit disappointing how many from the group who was online and playing other games.

Never underestimate the laziness of the average person. Even some of the group admins seemed to be absent during the event.
