I can't believe they added it to the bundle list. WTF? Does ti even look exploited at all? 4 giveaways created today. The price bug only lasted like 30 minutes, and it looks to me like not too many people bought it.
In this case, please add Sleeping Dogs to the bundle list. How about Skyrim and the rest of the Bethesda catalog due to the Bethesda New Year Bundle price bug on GG? Or how about Borderlands 2?
Comment has been collapsed.
Sooo... price bug for a garbage game = BUNDLE LIST! Price bug for AAA = continue on as usual.
Comment has been collapsed.
I am deadly serious. The bundle list, even after so many complaints, is still an inconsistent mess.
Comment has been collapsed.
I believe it was initially it was meant for Humble Bundle exploits, back when you could buy it for 1 cent. Back then, people would buy for 1 cent and then list it under one of the single games in the pack later on when the CV system was introduced.

Add Hotline Miami from Amazon (or you needed a coupon to get it for 2$?) and probably half of the games sold on GamersGate, picked myself two copies of Cargo Commander dirty cheap for blue points which normally I have nothing to spend on and they just disappear after few months.
Comment has been collapsed.
Bioshock + Bioshock 2 were also free on Amazon for about an hour in January.
Comment has been collapsed.
BioShock is never a GfWL key, BioShock 2 always will be, regardless of Steam.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hotline Miami should be on thanks to HiB 8 BTA as well? Or was the Amazon deal before HiB 8 and so it needs adding further back as it were?
Comment has been collapsed.
Hotline Miami was free w/ coupon for a few hours on Amazon back in January. I picked up like 6 copies. Bioshock 1+2 pack was free w/ coupon for an hour on Amazon in January as well.

The 'let's start with a simple poll' suggested that there was going to be more in-depth polls on the matter though, which have yet to happen. I think a 'recognising contributions is a good idea, but the current CV system is becoming more of a disaster every day' option would have seen a lot of support.
Comment has been collapsed.
Nothing? I see the advantage in having it in that there is more giveaways all round, but it causes a lot of hassle, especially with the bundle list and things like this / crazy machines getting retro-added etc.
Comment has been collapsed.
replace it with whatever you wish - people already may set rules in Private GAs - so you may have rule "to enter this GA you must have donated at least 1000$ worth of games", but you may also have a rule saying for example "you cannot enter if x% of your CV comes from Tryst, Crazy MAchines, other pricing errors / exploits / CV farming".
As long as pure CV will give exclusivity to enter "elite" high-CV Giveaways people will always be trying to cheat the system, and any means stoping them from doing so (like bundle list) will harm the rest of the community.
Comment has been collapsed.
Rules in private giveaways cannot replace effectively contribution limit as they do not work in similar manner.
Comment has been collapsed.
and why do you think that? before contributor gas were introduced there was CV calculator in a profile, but there wasn't Conti Giveaway option creating GA. If you get approved rule for minimum CV you can easily use it - and I don't see how it would not work as you say.
Same goes for rules with contri boosting using Crazy MAchines (b4 they finally got bundled), as such a rules were approoved.
Comment has been collapsed.
To name some that come to my mind:
Contributor giveaways can be made public, meaning everyone can see them more easily. You cannot achieve that with private giveaway.
Special rule does not prevent invalid entries. On the contrary, placing a link in e.g. forum to a giveaway with special rules pretty much guarantees you get invalid entries.
Rerolling is not fun. Not only it takes time, it places heavy burden for support members.
What counts as valid source of contribution seems to differ from person to person. Some do not mind Crazy Machines, some say that any game above arbitrary sale percentage is off the limits. This would likely cause lots of rerolling.
In summary: contribution limit is hard coded feature that works more or less automatically compared to special rules which manually enforced.
Comment has been collapsed.
I respectfully disagree. For those that do public giveaways, CV can be a valuable tool to help filter the quality of entrants.
Comment has been collapsed.
The pain of rerolling. Seriously, the threat of having to spend the next month asking for rerolls is a pretty big deterrent.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't disagree that it's flawed. But I also fail to think of a system that is both simple and perfect. As it is, I think CV does have it's uses.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually not true. Quoting a previous post of mine:
"THQ Medley was $10 for $110 CV, it wasn't a problem (I did not include Metro 2033, because I think it was already removed from giveaway list by then). It also was not exploitable.
I'm actually not aware of any Amazon bundle being over 95% off before promotional coupons (which had to be bought, adding an additional cost that most people don't consider).
The closest were:
Paradox War Chest - $7.50 for $140 CV, a savings of 94.6%
DOW Franchise Pack - $10 for $160 CV, 93.75% off
Paradox 2012 Ultimate Pack - $10 for $189 CV, ~94.7% off
Keep in mind all of these were pre-promotional coupon prices."

Didn't Two worlds 2 Velvet Edition had something similar to Tryst ?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, Two Worlds 2 Velvet had a price mistake on Steam for several hours on November 14. It was 17 US cents equivalent for CIS countries.
Comment has been collapsed.
Then that should be on the bundles list too following the logic no ?
Comment has been collapsed.
Thats a slightly larger mistake and it lasted for a lot longer than the mistake with Tryst
Comment has been collapsed.
It is. But it was bundled, afair. Don't know if before the price discount.
But yeah, the one who's adding games to bundle list can't get his stuff together.
Edit: No, wait, it isn't. I was looking at standard edition.
So yeah, a bit about bundle list being messed up is even more correct.
Comment has been collapsed.
And if, say there was a sale for Super Meat Boy and some random 30 metascore bugged mess of a game that wasn't in the bundle list you would pick Super Meat Boy if you had to chose? Or you would do like 99% of the giveaway creators and pick the one that wasn't bundled?
Comment has been collapsed.
Haven't played it enough to tell. But yeah, it's probably a horrible game, that's not really pertinent to that particular point there though. If you have two games for sale, and you had to pick one to giveaway, most people will pick the non-bundle listed one regardless of quality or any other factors involved.
Comment has been collapsed.
people give away games when bundle is live or shortly after - as leftovers, because they have or don't want some game, or siply buy whole bundle to give away as they got many games for GAs cheaply.
The other things is buying single game that was in bundle lets say 1-2 years ago. In bundle you pay 1$ and get 5-6 games. The thing is year later you have to pay 5-10-20$ for single game from this bundle, yet you still won't get any CV. so people buy games that weren't in bundle for the same price, not because they are better, but just because they will give them CV. someone will give you Death Rally or Perimeter 2 not Super Meat Boy or Limbo - because the later games, even if better were in bundle.
Comment has been collapsed.
95% off for random people for like 30 minutes earlier today.
Comment has been collapsed.
ah thats why one of our mods was talking about getting it .. thought it was a random choice
Comment has been collapsed.
Except it was 95% off based on the old price which was 24.99 USD (didn't bother to check other region's pricing) After the bug was fixed, the price dropped to 14.99 USD. A single copy was 1.25 USD. This is still 91.66% off, but figured it's still worth mentioning. I'm very surprised this is considered bundled since the price bug only affected a few people and it only lasted a little over half an hour.
Comment has been collapsed.
really????
It's now on the bundle list just because a price bug on steam?
why all the other games from price bugs and high discounts aren't on the bundle list?

It's pronounced about how you'd expect it would be if it were spelled "trist." It's the short "i" sound. If you click the little speaker symbol here between "tryst" and "noun" it'll play a recording of someone pronouncing it.
That also says that it can also be pronounced with a long "i" sound (like the word "try" with "st" at the end), but that's primarily British and not nearly as common as with a short "i".
I like the English meaning a bit better... D:

I'd be interested to see an explanation from the staff responsible for the list. This seems to be a rather arbitrary decision for something that apparently had very limited scope for impact. I wasn't even aware there was a price glitch until I read this, and I had noted the game was on sale and have started an initiative to buy a 4-pack with others. So I was paying attention to the game and yet still missed the big discount.
Comment has been collapsed.
I had to look several times while making this topic just to be sure it wasn't my eyes playing tricks on me. Hell I even had several discussions with people last night while the bug was going on of whether it would be bundled, we all agreed that noway it would be bundled, none of the other price bugs had...
Comment has been collapsed.
Forgot it earlier: I wrote Shobo yesterday when it had the 95% off, to maybe add it to the bundle list. But I dont think it got added cause of my message^^
I just think people overreact here very much, maybe stop insulting others for doing a little mistake?
Comment has been collapsed.
I got Railworks 2012 - which was later updated to 2013 for free - for, IIRC, 2 euro, while regular price was 50. No region or language locks.
In total, my 2600 USD worth of account comes for less then 400 USD of expenses. Even when not counting the Humble Bundles and it's clones that suggests that half of my game list was exploitable at some point in time with some regular shophunting. Not that I care much about my CV, but it seems to me that with current system we'll soon reach a point when every game that is not absolutely new will be counted as bundled.
Comment has been collapsed.
All that anger... The CV system really has strong collateral effects.
Comment has been collapsed.
I couldn't care less if Tryst were added to the list as long as additions are added in a consistent manner. Right now, things are added based on if Shobo thinks they should be added. There are basically no rules in place.
Comment has been collapsed.
There's some truth in what you say. Just don't take this site too seriously, maybe.

Wut. I was simply pointing out that Infernotoni was the one that posted the ARMA X screenshot first and C00liz edited it into his main post.

I did that purchase and it's my screenshot from my account details. Maybe you think about the really, really really low chance that a game has no low-violence version, so that everyone can buy a ROW version.
Comment has been collapsed.
im from germany myself, Hallo :D
uhm , usually we get (DE) Tag as you might know , Row usually the "not german version"
i really didnt except that this , this should be the only german version that sells as (row) i know of :D sorry for being sceptical about that :D

The Amazon bundles are often over 90% off, they never get bundle listed. There is a difference between Tryst and the Sleeping Dogs/Trains/Amazon Bundles though, Tryst is indie, the others are not. It's possible whoever added it to the list thought it was bundled and didn't bother to look for which bundle it was in (since it really wouldn't matter which one it was in).
Comment has been collapsed.
That is weird then. Games have been more than 95% off and never were listed before. Sleeping Dogs was 96% off. Amazon Bundles have been 95%+ off too (Borderlands GotY, Bioshock 1&2, Duke Nukem Forever Bundle was 95% off, there were others too)... The only thing that kept them off the list I think was not being Indie.
Then there is the Bethesda Bundle Bug, and the Borderlands 2 4 pack bug... pretty sure both of those were 95% or better off, or close enough to it.
Well regardless, makes no difference to me. I didn't buy Tryst as I must have blinked in the few minutes the bug was known for, just wish there was an easy way to tell when one 95% off will be listed, and when another 95% won't be. I hope the reason isn't that one is Indie and one isn't, AAA doesn't need the support as much as Indie does.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, 2K Shooter Pack was $10 pre-promotional coupon for $140 CV, not 95% off.
Comment has been collapsed.
Soooo, just to simplify, you are mad that you don't have a higher probability at free games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Lol, yeh that's exactly it. c00lizz (the user who has given over 250 times the games you have) is mad about not enough free games.
Think before you make a post. He's clearly pointing out an error/flaw in the system, not crying about the lack of Tryst giveaways...
Comment has been collapsed.
Lol, I'd be pissed off too if I bought the game also especially the 4 pack.
Whoever put tryst in the bundle list is "amazing". I mean the game's dead anyways, so he/she wants us to save money and buy other crappy games in indie gala store to gift.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think 30 minutes price bug is a rather silly and invalid reason to include a game in bundle list
Comment has been collapsed.
With the amount of crying and flaming that continually goes on these forums, over and over and over again, and the arguments just keep going in circles between the pro and anti bundle contingents, perhaps anytime a game goes on sale (no matter the sale amount), it should be asterisked and only games that remain full price for the entire history of their existence should remain a non-bundled game. Thats the only way true CV can be calculated since that is such a truly polarizing aspect for so many users here.
Sound fair?
Comment has been collapsed.
and howdo you want to keep track of every sale? sales happes not only in steam store, on amazon, GMG and GG - you have shitload of small local retailers and they can have sales too. If a small shop in poland discounts BioShock Infinite on it's premiere day by 15% as a promo does a game become bundled? for everyone on the whole world? and how do you keep track of every possible sale in whole wide world? It's impossible to implement.
Comment has been collapsed.
Easy to do...as my comment was more sarcastic in nature, since every game goes on sale at some point or has its price dropped. Therefore every game would then be an asterisked game and the 1000's of posts that show up here daily due to this very reason would stop.
Well, that is until we collectively find some other thing to be entitled over and start making 1000's of posts on that issue.
Comment has been collapsed.
I remember the old days. You couldn't give away individual games from bundles. Had to provide the whole damn thing or nothing at all. The Bundle providers (incl. the developers) universally don't want people giving away individual keys anyway. And the CV system just exacerbates the problem by encouraging people to separate the bundles for max CV. System took a lot of policin' though. Still, I think it was a better time.

I am sorry, but WTF? Steam price bugs counts as bundle items now?
If that is that the case, then why isn't Sleeping Dogs in the bundle list? Or The Sims Medieval? Or hell, what about Dead Island Riptide, I got that for 1£. Two Worlds Velvet Edition?
Hell, if the only prerequisite for being on the bundle is 90% or more off then why isn't all the games that can be gotten for 95%+ off in the russian store on the bundle list?
This has gotten out of hand to the point where the only way people gain contributer is new releases and targeted exploitation.
Just to be clear here, I am not asking for some grand restructuring of the contributor system, that's a bigger argument. I am just saying that whoever is in charge on the bundle list needs to either add EVERY game that has had a way to get big discounts/exploits, which would eventually cover practically all games on steam, or just go back to it just covering bundle games.
EDIT1: What about this? This qualifies as a bundlelist item?
EDIT2: How about this? This bundle worthy?
EDIT3: Tryst removed from the bundle list. Leaving this open as I would still like to get some clarity as to what qualifies something for the bundle list.
EDIT4: Steam seems to be in a price buggy mood. The new Civ expansion in the BR store was 1.75 USD
