Isn't that a ban-worthy offense? If not, can we make it one?

In terms of sales: Amazon and GMG >>> GamersGate >>> World War 2 > Steam and Origin
In terms of DRM-free service: GOG and GamersGate > Origin > GMG > Steam
In terms of clients (if you are one of the weirdos that like running games through a client): Steam client > Origin client > GMG capsule client
In terms of client/webpage performance: GOG and Amazon and GMG > Steam client > GamersGate (normally i'd rate GG higher than Steam's laggy client, but in light of the recent store fuckups GG gets the last place)

Origin lets you play games without the client - well, without Origin. With the exception of some Origin only titles (which would be the equivalent of Steamworks) like Mass Effect 3 and BF3, you can play all of your Origin titles DRM free (well, unless the game has some other form of DRM). I installed Dead Space and Mirror's Edge from my Origin account and played them without ever again opening the Origin client.
That is my reasoning for ranking Origin over GMG and Steam (which forces you to run every game through its DRM client).

Not EVERY game. There are few games that you can run without Steam. Like Trapped Dead. I guess that's Steam mistake, but when few times Internet died and offline mode only wrote "need to be online to go offline" that little game was all I had (not won) :P

GMG is at the bottom of the list here. Maybe alongside Origin. GMG Capsule games use Securom for authentication. Steam by itself isn't DRM, and some games can be copied to other systems and run without Steam. Also GOG is definitely > GamersGate in terms of DRM.

"Steam by itself isn't DRM" - you are wrong. The Steam client IS DRM and with one or two exceptions, you cannot run games bought on Steam without the Steam client.
You are also wrong about GOG > GamersGate. GG is exactly like GOG: DRM free. No client, no nothing, you just download and install the games. If the game has its own DRM, that's another thing entirely but GG doesn't add a DRM layer by itself, like Steam and GMG and to some extent Origin (only for Origin exclusive titles though, not for everything).
No matter how you look at it, the top ranking stores in the DRM-free category are GOG and GG and the last ranking one is Steam.

Let me correct you.
First, it's obvious that if even one or two games bought on Steam can be run without the client then Steam as a store doesn't imply DRM. Since there are dozens such games, clearly Steam is better than stores which only sell games with DRM.
Regarding GamersGate, the installers connect to the net to authenticate the games. You can usually bypass this by copying the install directory that's temporarily created, but that's not as straightforward as GOG, which up front doesn't have any DRM or authentication. Also, GG sells games with DRM, while GOG doesn't. Some games sold on GOG without DRM are sold on GamersGate with DRM (or are even Steam copies, for example Alan Wake).
The short of it is when it comes to DRM: GOG > GG > Steam > GMG.

Definitely a contender for the best place to buy games, in my opinion. Up there with GOG and HIB, but with the best update system I've seen on Windows.

I really like Desura, especially with the access to lots of alphas, but more often than not when I go to look at my game list it will tell me that I have none. I know where they are kept on my computer so it's not a huge deal but it gets pretty annoying.

cant believ e you chose a "anything vs gamersgate" poll gamersgate is the WORST distributor out there borderline fake cdwarehouse shit.

There is one very serious problem with GOG, none of their games run on Vectrex. And that's a huge downside.

Gamersgate failed in last sales of Borderlands 2 and Bethesda pack. I don't think I'm going to buy anything from them again.
Though Steam is great, GreenManGaming has lots of good deals (with Steam keys) and region-locked games from Steam can be purchased from there.
