Have you seen the way the draw is set up? There will be like anywhere from 2-4 groups of death. It'll be 2002 all over again. Best of luck to all the teams though.

(o.O) OK it is weird we are talking about football and only few get it? I mean it is damn football! One of the greatest show that one can imagine! Well it is kinda dominated by Europe but damn... it is WORLD CUP... everything can happen.

So who is your favorite?

Maybe we should start betting with games? But we would have to wait long too see results... and we would need some kind of system. Hmm... but it could be fun...

Brazil, Germany and Spain are the favorites for me...

I'd choose Germany to win if I could. In my opinion they have the best team since the last World Cup

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Don't leave out Argentina. Im mostly saying this because I'm from Argentina. We got one of the, if not THE, easiest groups, 16ths will probably be against Switzerland and Messi will hopefully be fully healed by then. As long as Germany doesent rape us in 8ths, we should be good to go.

Group C looks difficult to predict too, as the teams are all much of a muchness. Any one of the four could end up going home early, even the seeds, Colombia.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think, group D will be hard. Uruguay and Italy going through easily. I'm not sure, which of them first though. I consider both teams as top contenders. Italy might have some trouble with endurance and depth, but that shouldn't matter at the group stages.
Group E and H should be obvious, too. I'm really having difficulties to pick the both top spots for the other groups though, so I think it will be an intense WC with many surprises.

Germany vs Ronaldo? Ronaldo isn't even the most important player in the Portuguese national team, Moutinho is. Plus, there are lots of other world class players

I'm pretty sure, anybody in the world would rather have Ronaldo and no Moutinho, than Moutinho and no Ronaldo.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

To put it simple, when Moutinho doesn't play Portugal loses. Plus, Ronaldo doesn't perform that well for Portugal, Hélder Postiga was our top scorer in the World Cup Qualifiers before the Playoff matches against Sweden. If we were counting on Ronaldo we wouldn't even make it to the Playoff

Can't complain.

At least this no-show means New Zealand's unbeaten streak in World Cup Finals games will stretch to an impressive 36 years.

Too bad for the Poms, who I support by default in the [regular] event that NZ don't qualify for these prestigious events... Can't see them getting past Uruguay and Italy.
