Actually, I'd support blocking Twitter all around the world. Can Erdogan do that, please?

Yeah, it might not be difficult to bypass the block, but everyone doesn't know about it. And even if it's possible to still use it with something like a VPN or proxy, the government is still preventing people from communicating. Why are they even doing it? Someone else here said that it's because they don't want any evidence of corruption.

What happened? Someone say that he's stupid on Twitter?

"now we can access twitter by using DNS"
You don't seem to know what DNS means...
Got doubts about the usefulness of writting a hashtag on twitter to join your resistance...
Now if you ask me to come around with a bunch of friends and guns it would already make more sense.

Chances are being from Turkey they just don't know English well enough to express what they meant. They could have meant to say "by using an alternate DNS server" or "bypassing DNS by using the HOSTS file" or something of that ilk. This is assuming the block was done simply by ordering ISP's to redirect requests to Twitter via DNS to something else, which is usually how they go about blocking sites.

Shhhh Turkey is going to block steamgifts now, The prime minister is already thinking about going after Facebook and Youtube, its sad that he has the power to just block every website that shows evidence of his corruption. Good luck with your cause.

Erdogan is controlling the press, the TV, tries to block "western" services...seems like he is more into beeing a DICK and likes to STEAL money from his own country.

Always sad to see the bounds on free speech being pulled tighter instead of torn looser.

Yeah, let's pay the phone companies an amount they don't deserve... If you calculated the number of messages/texts and amount of calls/time of calls, and then saw your electricity bill you would see how much cheaper it is (if you include all the extras, like gaming, except if we are talking about mobile phones). Oh, and yeah, let's meet with my best friend in person who lives in USA and me in Greece... I mean, it's easy to do so... And cheap.

you know your paying more for internet to spend hours and hours looking at profiles on social media, than say for your phone bill to actually communicate with people, not sit there reading stuff that was never actually meant for you.....you know that right?

The Turkish "oligarchy" has shown a repeated pattern of rash constrictions on free speech every time citizens attempt to investigate government corruption. Unfortunately, this is a pattern we can observe across a myriad of countries and governments. We're supposedly heading into 2015, but it feels more and more like 1984 is just around the corner :/

Usually i'd also participate in bashing Erdogan, but this time he's only partially at fault. Initially there were lots of people complaining about Twitter, that there's law being broken etc. This escalated until a court took a look at that case and was like "the only way to maintain the turkish citizens rights is to shut Twitter off". Of course Erdogan jumped on that bandwagon and now they finally blocked it. If you want to blame Erdogan, you should also blame all those people who constantly reported twitter to police and responsible authorities..
