... do you guys ever get any 'thank you' from the winners of your GAs?

I mean, nothing special, either a final comment on the GA page or a reply to the email with the key you've sent or... anything really!

It's not like I'm moaning, but I find it a bit weird that both winners of the 2 GAs I've done haven't bothered to say anything at all, kinda puts me off for future GAs :(

I have had some of the people add me on Steam and thank me, and I try to do the same when I win as well.

About half the time they don't say anything which really is rude.

If you've sent keys by email you may find you don't get much of a response. I find delivering them via Steam chat leads to more of a reaction. If you want to feel appreciated, try using that method.

I agree with you on Steam chat being more direct and more satisfying, but I think I got lucky. About half of my giveaways I sent by email and every time I've got a response with a 'thank you'. Apparently not everybody is an ungrateful a-hole ^^

Thanks for the advice. Though it's really not about myself feeling appreciated. It's a lot more about feeling that the people I'm 'virtually' hanging out with, this community of people - 'exchanging' gifts with each other on SG in this case - is made of people actually worth the time and effort I put into it, for how little it may be

Like with any community, there are people here who are kind and truly appreciate giving and receiving gifts. There are also people who pretty much just leech. Also, it's a hugely international community, maybe you send a gift to someone in English and they don't know what the hell you're saying or how to reply. Maybe you just got unlucky. Who knows. But as a community I have found Steamgifts to be quite welcoming.

I get like 50% here, less elsewhere. I always write a few sentences back, thanking them and explaining why I wanted to try the game. If they can give you a free game, you can give them a nice thank you note back. It is like when you get a gift and you are supposed to both say thank you and show the person that you actually want it and want to use it.

I always say thank you, and I've had a thank-you response from the winners of every giveaway I've run. I think you've been incredibly unlucky.

Almost every giveaway I made I got reply with thanks in one way or another. Maybe you're just unlucky?

well depends on the person..i don't like to stay silent and don't say thanks to the person that gave it to me, i believe that would be rude :P .just don't bother if they 'll reply you or not.. if you enjoy giving away gifts then keep doing it but change the way you give em to them. add them on steam and do it through chat--they'll have more to say in there ;)

I see this seems to be a common practice and it probably works. Shame if this means you'd have to 'force someone in the corner' of having to say something just because they're on chat! I'll stick to emails, hopefully I'll get more luck in the future

it doesn't mean that you have to force them to say thanks or so , but through that giveaway you can also have a lil chat with that person except just saying hi thanks etc or nothing at all.Wish you luck in the next giveaways. just don't bother if they don't reply, it's just "some" people :P

I almost always get a thanks. It usually depends on the avenue in which you d the giveaway though. Private forum giveaways have a lot more interaction so I would say you are more likely to get a thank you from there.

Only 2 of my winners thanked me. And one of the "no thanks" actually demanded his game in comments on my profile, then blocked me on Steam after I gifted it. And I keep going when I can.

If you send keys via email you deliver a message: 'I want it one sided, don't bother me'. Expect feedback? Use steam chat.

Yeah. Even if you don't get a 'thanks' through chat, at least you know they're real xD

I've never thought of it that way. Whenever someone emails me my win, I always reply back to them with a thanks. I figure if they didn't want a thank you, they'd mention it in the message they sent me. Or at least post it in the description on their giveaway.

I see it the same way as you. If I wanted to keep it one way, I would rather NOT go through my email address in fact. But maybe someone really takes it as a one-way communication...

It's still common courtesy to reply with at least plain "thanks".

I disagree with you. I've only sent 3 keys to winners via email, but 2 of those winners said thanks on my profile, and the third sent me an email thanking me. It doesn't take much effort to write something along the lines of "Thanks for the game".

Yeah, though one of my winners didn't thank me. I've found that you're more likely to get a thank you from a hidden, puzzle, or group giveaway. People who enter those tend to put a bit more effort into 'em, and are thus more likely to take a bit of time to thank someone for their gift.

Sucks that you've had to deal with so many ingrates. Though I haven't won one of your giveaways, I do appreciate your contribution to this site. Thanks! And please do try to not let the douchebags get you down too much. ^^

I've had some winners not even say hello or thanks on the giveaway page or via chat when I give them the game. One recent winner basically added me as soon as the giveaway ended and told me It is time. I wrote back saying Time for what? To which he replied Time for you to give me my game. They come with the site so you either gotta deal with these asshats or make more exclusive giveaways trying to filter out as much of these types as possible.

I would totally be willing to take a not received in that situation.

Yeah, I have to agree with yyd518 and MrCastiglia. I'd rather take a not received in that situation, though I would probably ask for a reroll first if they were rude enough to warrant one.

may I suggest a new feature in SG? a personal blacklist of people you don't want to be able to enter your GAs!
and when someone gets blacklisted by too many users, ban from the website :)

Yeah it sucks when you don't hear anything, wouldn't even know if they received the key / gift if they didn't mark it as received. I always write an email to thank if I win something.

I always reply to either the Giveaway or the Steam Chat. I sometimes e-mail it in as well. On the other hand, I seldom get a thank you when it was my giveaway.
