It might well be worth playing, but remember that for many of those who hail it as "the best game ever", it was also the first game of its type that they played. You'll often find that people who played FF3/6 first will often say that that is the best FF game.
People who did not play FF7 when it was new will often wonder what all the fuzz was about. A bit like talking to someone who watched Seinfeld a few years after its release compared to talking to someone who watched it when it was new.

I still have my PC version from 10+ years ago and it still works just fine on my modern PC using minimal effort searching on google. But for anyone that didn't pick up a box copy from way back, this is the best and most popular Final Fantasy game ever.

Only thing I can think of is that there was one cutscene where Tifa's tits bounced slightly, and because she's basically the Anna Nicole Smith of Final Fantasies her bouncing jubblies make it essentially R-rated.

$11.99 for an overrated FF game that I could get on psn for $2 less... No thanks. Rather have 8 or 9 anyway.

Unfortunately that's a product of casual gaming. Some people don't have time (or are too lazy) to put in the effort to properly play through a game. The thing is though,. that FF7 isn't challenging anyway!

So according to you there are already perfectly ordered groups of people who say managed to defeat final bonus boss? Or get limit breaks of everyone, not just their favourite characters? But for some weird reason part of these never used even first limit?

11 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And to make it even worse, one of least used first limits belongs to PROTAGONIST and only mandatory character...

oh, you mean the amount of people with those achievements? I suppose it's from testing and whatnot. I thought they were talking about having achievements for a classic jrpg.

Or maybe they just used SAM.

nope. Achievements are linked to your square enix account. If you got the achievements with the square enix version, it will unlock the steam ones when you start the steam version.

FFVII has been available from SE for quite a while now. If someone owned it from there (or went yar to it), the save file existed where the Steam version would pull from.

If they bought the Steam version, then loaded their old save, it would trigger all of the achievements retroactively. I know this because of my friend having done it with Borderlands before I gifted him a copy of it.

Kind've want to buy this just to have it on steam and have achievements, but it would be pointless since I've got my VII discs sitting a few feet away. Still a hard decision ><;

And? It's the sub-par PC version from years ago. The audio quality is lower than PS1's, you must register at square-enix.com or facebook for it to work, tons of glitches and crashes (resolution problems in particular) and it's more than if you were to just buy it from PSN. Buying a physical copy isn't even expensive, it's not like it's a rare game.

The official steam forums back up what I said. Are you gonna believe the salesmen or the customers? It's "upgraded" in that it supports cloud saves and an auto-level button. It hasn't "improved" any of it's actual problems from '97.
