Thanks Eon. Can you explain where you can find your tag? I have had an amazon account for 5 years, and I am just hearing about this... :(

It's the Amazon Associates program. At the bottom of the Amazon.com website, there are a bunch of service links. Click on the one labeled "Become an Affiliate." Anyone can sign up for it, but you/your friend must provide a significant amount of identifying information (website url, social security #, address, etc), and fill out all the legal paperwork involved with employment (forms) if you haven't already in order to get paid. Pretty standard stuff for affiliate programs that pay out.

The application is subject to Amazon approval. Iirc, you/your friend also need(s) to explicitly specify which for which product categories your affiliate links qualify, otherwise their identifying tag doesn't result in a payout.

I recall being asked to submit something like a W2 if I didn't already have one on file (already had one). It was a while ago, so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.

You need to read between the lines. When he says use code x, he really means, insert your code like so: "?tag=PutNameHere-20"

Seriously, its there... somewhere. Just support childsplay first. Think of the children.

The tag I normally use is for Backloggery, so they can get some server money.

Eon, could you refer us to where you found the Child's Play Charity amazon tag? I would like to make sure that this is actually the tag for Child's Play and not some random person on the internet who signed up under a similar moniker. I was unable to find their referral link mentioned anywhere on the Child's Play website, and I only saw mention of them having set up wishlists on Amazon for the requests by the specific hospitals they help.

All I can find is where r/gamedeals on Reddit uses it, but I heard of that link before that subreddit.

Their instructions to use it for charity

I made a post asking for proof so we can see where that goes: LINK
