What do IndieGala Points do exactly?

I love indie gala. They provide awesome deals and allow you to donate to charity while still getting what you love, games. Well I usually get a lot of copies for friends and such. Then i noticed......these magical Gala Points. I have a lot of them but i seriously have no idea what they do. If you know what they are meant for, please let me know. Thank you.

Good thing you asked a bunch of strangers on SteamGifts, and not the actual people who are behind IG. The same people that already said "nothing, for now". Please, make a fourth unclear and/or pointless thread.
