That would help, especially if you entered multiple giveaways for one game you just bought/received 5 minutes ago. Saves us the work of going through and finding all of the giveaways, and less chance of a reroll.

Yet another good idea ... but probably easier said than done.

Well, yeah, I f*cking hate that. Entered several "Spec Ops: The Line" until I saw it's on sale and bought it myself :/
And that shouldn't be so difficult. Just connect it with the sync button. If you sync your account, just compare the open entries with the games in the users account and warn him if there's a match and give him the chance to remove all entries with one click. That's not thaaat difficult :P

But ... but ... that would require accountability!

That would add a lot more queries to the database when it syncs an account. That may not be too bad when you have one user but with a site with a quarter million members that would hammer the database server pretty hard. Even if its technically possible from a programming perspective, it may not be possible without much more expensive servers.

Not necessarily.
It could be implemented so that when a winner is being chosen, it would, at that point, make sure that anyone that has marked that game as received would be excluded from the drawing. This would be a much more efficient way to do it rather than automatically checking every so often or incorporating it into sync.

Don't even check every user. Pick one, check, then reroll before it actually declares a winner.

It's a great idea, but... what if you win a game, but the creator never gives you the game?
Suddenly, you've been removed from all the giveaways for the game, and all your points refunded possibly forcing you over the 300pt limit and losing a bunch of points.

I'm pretty sure if you're at 300 points and you leave a giveaway you will go over 300 points.

I do believe that you will go over 300 points, I've seen users in the past with over 300 and I'm almost positive that my account has gone over 300 on one occasion. (I'd need mod/admin confirmation to be 100% sure but I'm comfortable saying that I'm 99% sure of it)
Try it out to be sure, wait until you have 300 points then join a small giveaway that lasts for a while, wait until you're at 300 points again and then leave the giveaway and see if you go over 300 points.

Afaik, it's only if a giveaway you have entered for is deleted that your points go over 300

While we're on the subject on making things a bit more tolerable, there should be some sort of feature where you can search for giveaways by title, giveaway creator, and/or point value.

My bad. Was not aware of the plugin, and kinda derped on the title/giveaway creator. God, I'm dumb x_x

I like to micromanage.
:-P
Nah but its been suggested, one of the better ideas.

The only issue I see with this is the free weekends like we have now. If someone entered a Ravaged giveaway, then his account got synced, he'd be kicked out of the giveaway because Steam reports that he has the game. It's bad enough already that someone can't join giveaways when their account sync during the weekend, we don't want them kicked out of the ones they managed to enter before. (Altough a nice reminger on the front page with a link to this page could help a lot. I've been known to forget about some entries myself after buying a game and since I filter out the games I have I won't see them anymore on the front page.
If someone has checked the giveaway received button however, they should definitely be kicked out and not allowed to enter anymore no matter if they have the game on their account or not.

This is the biggest drawback i can think of, that and the fact that it involves some coding to be done by one single person, and even then if it were to be implemented in something like the SG Add-on, it would involve some sort of bot, which could drag the server down, as well as one's connection. (someone confirm this)

Not only is there the Free Weekend issue, but there is the issue of fake giveaways. You win it, but it never shows up, and if the OP's suggestion is implemented, you would then be forever banned from getting the game from a legitimate giveaway.

I often do trading for friends and have games I would like in my inventory but are not mine to activate. Would be frustrating if I couldn't enter giveaways for these games because I was withdrawn from all of them.

I only see winning a game here causing all other entries of the same game removed plausible.
Purchasing a game on Steam and then automatically removing all entries of the game on here seems impossible with the current sync system.

Already been suggested several times... As you can guess from the fact that it has been suggested & not implemented, it is either not possible with the way the site is coded or it's not with doing.
Then there is the argument saying that you shouldn't be a lazy arse and should just un-enter / ask for a giveaway to be re-rolled if you happen to buy it then win it before you can remove yourself from giveaways.
TL;DR good suggestion but I doubt it'll get implemented nor is it truly necessary.

It would ease the moderators job, they'd have less to do (rerolling) and all the users would be happier, so you can't say it's not truly necessary. Saying it's not possible with the way the site is coded is a little ridiculous to think about, since I guess the coders aren't noobs who could not implement it, just because the site is coded wrong. They'd find a solution. My guess is, that they're just too busy with more important things or just want us to be really mad and they hate us and want us to go to hell. Maybe not :)

I approve, by dumb luck I won two Magicka: Vietnam giveaways at the same time. When I marked one as received, it'd be handy if the system automatically rerolled the other one. It was actually rerolled before and it came up with me :/

I won Cogs once, after I purchased it myself. Had to be rerolled aswell. Get a solution for that, SG Team :)

If there's a game I really want I'll enter all the available giveaway's. I know I"m not the only one that does this.
However, after I win I have to go through and remove all my other entries. Shouldn't that be automatic?
Or say I just bought the game on steam. Wouldn't it make sense that my entries for that title were automatically removed?
