Saw a giveaway for this, haven't seen it before, checked the graph - 11 private giveaways (plus a few public) of the game this week (maybe just today) after hardly any before, looks kinda weird. Is there some sale/bundle/free key thing going on?

It's a goddamn awesome game, that's the reason why.

Yeah, it looks kinda fun, I'm just concerned in case it's an exploited key or such.

Was wondering the same thing. Not seeing any bundles, though. I think it's a conspiracy. A zombie pirate conspiracy! :)

ha, I just thought the same, because I saw 3 public giveaways for this within 1 hour ;)

People giving them away seem to be Russian, so there could be a sale on a Russian site or it's just super cheap for them on Steam.

Nope, no Steam store sale

99 rubels ~ 3.26 USD

It must be free somewhere

I'm thinking that, since it's from the same publisher as Magicka, maybe some are giving them away before the reveal, in case it is one of the secret games, so that they get full contributor value for it? Sort of like what we're seeing with the increase in Magicka DLC.

Can't be, some winners marked as recieved already.

I think HollowHeaded meant giving inventory copies away before they become part of the bundle and get devalued. With the thinking that the gifters either have inside info or are being overly-cautious.

Don't think so, checked one of the people's inventories and it had none.

could be possible, since people apparently found the upcoming indiegala bundle games in the webpage source code or something like that for several indiegala bundles

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not possible, they have already been recieved by some winners, therefore can't be due to taking a future part in this bundle.

it has been posted that one winner received a key, so the theorey of "giving away tradeable copies before they get devalued" is unlikely

User alonewolf47 isn't very helpful, either.

I wonder why noone wants to tell where they got it from.

I've noticed a lot of Magicka DLC giveaways by the same people, so maybe there's some deal that included those too? I did end up finding the source of some of the private giveaways (a russian imageboard) but couldn't find any links to the source of the games.

Perhaps they unlocked the Indie Magicka Gala bonuses early through a glitch or something

Magicka + DLCs are included in the new IndieGala bundle... Not sure about Woody though

EDIT : 18 seconds late D:

Only one DLC is currently included and I doubt they're going to include the range I'm referring to even after bonuses.

Dunno about the woody tow-legs but during the steam sale the magic dlc was like 29 cents or something

I know now ... but you need an account on VKontakte (russian version of facebook) and to create one, they want to send you a SMS, and so far I didn't find a working "trash SMS site" to try this.

It' probably not worth the trouble.

TL;DR: it's a regional restricted thingy for Russians.

but the game is not region restricted?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't know, I could not try it.

But we already have winners of those Woody giveaways that have marked the game as received, so it's probably not a regional restricted key.

Ah, thanks for finding it anyway :) Hopefully there won't be too many people abusing it for value.

vKontakte (aka vk.com or just "vk") requires a valid mobile number for registration, so it's rather unlikely that people used this to get multiple copies (though there's already one case ...) and a 5 dollar value does not really push the contributor value that much ... also: a free game is a free game

too bad I can't register, seems they offer some interesting stuff that facebook does not.

Ah ok I found it on vk thanks to your post. It was a forum giveaway. Prizes were Portal 2, Zeno Clash, Dota 2, Woody Two-Legs: Attack of the Zombie Pirates. The competition is over.

Was asking because there were people giving away 4+ copies of Woody, so I wondered in what quantity and by which method the prizes were given.

No, that's not it. Those games and DLCs originate from a small russian store which has a nice new year promotion. The promotion requires vk account, which has really strict policy for alts (it requires an invitation from an existing member and a confirmed phone number), so you can't get more than one discount.
The shop is also not that known and the discount should end soon, so grab them while you still can.

well i have it so i didnt see it pop up. but i will say this, the only time i tried to play it, it ran my card up to like almost 90 C temps, and its obviously not a graphics powerhouse. idk if they patched it or if there was a workaround or if it was just an anomaly with my system. just my 2 cents

Ok, guys. I will explain you. To get Woody Two-Legs and free Magicka: DLC's you must be signed up on vk.com (russian clone of Facebook). Then you must follow this page: http://vk.com/ttklive. After these steps you must go to okno.ru (russian game store), sign up there and press "Get 100 rubles". That's all. You can buy any games in store. Enjoy! :D
