There's very strict rules about idling. In the challenge I was issued, if I expect to be gone for more than five minutes, I'll quit. That said, if I do do this, I'll probably restrict it to people I can trust.

Thought about that, but I just tested streaming lately. Not a chance could I do it with my upload speed. :(

I have a crappy upload speed as well. Was testing streaming lately and managed to get some good results after messing around with lots of streaming apps. If you need some suggestions I can help (not in any way knowledgable on them but I did try a few lately).

Yes, its the test done right after yours, I was that quick. :)

I was going to randomly view results until I found a lower one but the very next test was.
Might be an old 3G mobile phone so 130k might not be too bad.

I would be interested as well :D, I get about 90-110 hours of gaming every 2 weeks

There would obviously be rules set out and followed through.
If the rules are not followed i guess the challenge would be considered void and the part that broke it lost.

In 48 hours, the participant should have ample time to finish a single-player campaign.
Therefore, some rules would be to complete some of the easiest (or campaign-related) achievements and post screenshots of key moments (such as when your unicorn wins first in a race) as the participant is progressing through the game.
The participant shall be automatically disqualified if he/she:
The achievements time and date shall be verified for fraudulent use of SAM.
I'm really looking forward to screenshots of your unicorn <3

I'm all for this!
Should be interesting to see how this flows out, with rules and such kinks worked out. this could possibly be like your creative month thread!

Well, I still have shitload of time and the current situation will sadly last for next few months so... I could accept some kind of challange like this.

Most of the time that I'm on the pc, I have TF2 running - may it be for idling, trading or actually playing. In 2 weeks this accumulates to 20-30 hours max - how can anyone fit 48 hours of actually playing a game into 1 week? o_O
Edit: let's do some math here: that is 7 hours of gaming per day. You would be asking to dedicate all days of this week purely to gaming. You should not encourage such behaviour (IMHO).

It's a challenge, not everyone have/want to do it. i for one have 100 hours a week free to literally PLAY games. that is beside sleeping and school. a week has 168 hours in it btw.

I totally get that a challenge is something that should be challenging.
However my point is that encouraging someone to dedicate 1 whole week to gaming is not such a good idea, because the person might neglect his social life during this time. But then again - maybe it's just me who values such stuff differently.

It's your own free will, and if you decide to take on a challenge it is "your own problem".
I see your point though and sort of agree with it, you shouldn't do something something for a whole week just to "win a game" from it.
And not every challenge will look the same as the other, sure there might be the play X for Y hours in Z timeframe. but there could also be much other things evaluated to this. because i for one has ALOT of free time on my hands, and i would gladly accept a play x for y in timeframe z challenge, But the point being the parts should both agree on the challenge.
I myself wouldn't give someone who doesn't have 30+ hours available in a week to play a game for 48 hours in a week, that is just evil.

On this we can agree ;)
If the parameters a right, this can probably be fun.
Also after reading raye's post some lines below "i can go 48h in 4 days and yes id go for any challenge so bring it on !!! (btw my first challenge was 5 years ago, played diablo 2 for 10 days without any sleep, had to recover for 2 months but it worth it :D) " I just hope that the parameters are chosen carefully. Social life is one thing, but when it also impacts the health ...
Let's see how this will turn out ;)

So, what's gonna stop your friend from starting a game and leaving his PC while the clock is ticking?
Comment has been collapsed.
Nothing really, but it would be wierd if someone would be ingame in the same game for continous 48 hours if that would be such a challenge, specially if you'd have a week on you to complete it.
And if such speculations are made it would probably lead up to the person doing it losing the challenge

You really didn't think that through, did you? He can just idle 4 hrs/day for a week and win.

48hrs is too much, especially when you have a job :\

My friend was the one who suggested the time limit. I was happy to force him to play for 48 hours total, but he wanted a time limit.

Interesting challenge, I have the time to do this and I would participate, but Secret of the Magic Crystals looks like a hard choice ^^

I am very interested but
1) has to be within my budget
2) still on my laptop since I am away from home for a while so don't have as much time as usually
Still willing to give it a shot though :D
Edit : I could stream it all also , but as I said not here since I am on a wireless. Willing to get tons of screenshots here though as an alternative xD

I might be interested in something like that, but firstly, my finances are limited, and secondly, I have a lot of free time on my hands, so it might not be very fair unless you're counting on the game just being so terribad that I can't stand to rack up the playing time.

Maybe. This is just an interest thread for now.
Currently, I have two bets going on. If my friend can play 48 hours of Secret of the Magic Crystals in a week, I get him Kingdoms of Amalur. If he fails, he gets me Legend of Grimrock. Now, I've just accepted another challenge for me to play 48 hours of Secret in exchange for a $15 of my choice (Grimrock goes to the challenger if I fail).
How many of you would be interested in challenges such as this? Note that it may not always be Secret that is the game to play. I may decide to test you on another awful game that I might find. Who purchases the challenge game (if not already owned) would be decided based on what the reward is.
Read the damn thread please before you bring up the stupid idling argument yet again. It's been dealt with repeatedly.
