Thanks for reading, replying and not sending an application. Good to see at least some still read.

IMO, groups like this simply fracture the community further.

Do you mean that in sense that more giveaways move behind the curtain (non-public) or that people gather into sub-groups inside SteamGifts?

Wokay, I defined myself as unlucky, but seeing people with 1500 entries and only one win (I SAW YOUR PROFILE, YOU LIAR§ :p ) made me balance everything.
It's just that I already saw profiles with 200 entries and like 6 wins, so I thought that was normal ^^

Think the requirement for cherry should add minimum 1k entries since last win/no wins
or $10 contributed per 100 entries minimum ??
Could you add specifics for date, for instance must be a member for 3 months, contribtued at last $30 or something, 0 wins out of the last 500 if you won before or 300 if you have never won anything, and have at least 0.5 comments per entry
Not interested in joining, but could see many that could

I did not put in any specific numbers as this post was more about gauging the possible interest and seeing has the idea any solid base. If group would be formed, I would present some numbers.

I like Cats' ideas. The comment/entry ration would mean I wouldn't be able to join but I don't see any other way to judge how active somebody is in this community.
Would you have any restrictions on the types of contributions made? e.g. somebody who gives away a bunch of leeched keys

Guidelines from SteamGifts.com apply. This means no beta keys (except whitelisted), guest passes or fake ones.
As the size of the group is small, I think I would personally run a poll for most interesting game (from my inventory) to find out which has most interest and select it for giveaway. I have no problems people sharing e.g. DLC but because of small sampling, it might be possible that no one has the required base game and therefore cannot enter.

Ssh, do not spoil the possible name of the group yet.

I might be biased as I would definitly try to join once that is possible, but it does sound like a good idea. I would want to give to such a group as well since it is a great cause, although not for a few months since I am currently broke. Was actually planing on giving another game away once i hit 1500 entries and doing it the same way you did with the 1000 no win entries giveaway (although only one game.) A group like this would make things easier.
So yeah, would be awesome if you made that group.

One of my targets would be to make group well known enough so it would be easier to create such giveaways (from the perspective of both sides). At the moment it is a bit hassle as you need to create thread to inform about its existence, guide people who ask for clarifications and finally face the likely re-roll rumba.

Yeah, I saw that quite a few people just simply can't read. Although I have to say that there must be a slight delight knowing that the offender must have felt happy to win, only to have the win taken from them. Or maybe I am just a sadist haha.

It will be. That is the only way to control the number of cherries.

This is a bit shady area as some people do not consider thanking in the comments as genuine. I personally prefer to thank everyone whose giveaway I enter but I do not demand it from others (it is not even required in the FAQ). This could be used as one criteria, certainly, but like others, it would not be fixed and absolute.

I understand this and would encourage people to be more active in the community but I would not like to force anyone to do it. The desire to be active should be genuine. Merely spamming to gain higher post count is actually harmful for the community.

Im going too add onto this..i don't say, thanks, because honestly is the creator of a giveaway going too want too waste a minute of his time too look at all the thanks? Not really, I don't..I look for comments asking about the game, or something with more substance.

Ill take either role...But, I love unlucky people so this drew my attention.

I would join but I don't think im unlucky enough 9 wins

Yes. As there is no particular gain for poppers, other than the joy of giving, I see no point in reducing their numbers. Hence there would be no mandatory requirements: you give what you give when you feel like giving.
That being said, I would hope that at least in the beginning not everyone would rush just to hang as poppers. Just for organization view point because if we suddenly have few hundred poppers (and few dozens cherries), somebody popper might enter a giveaway, win it and we have re-roll fiesta all over again.

Doesn't sound like the group would be able to last very long...

Could you specify why this would happen? I could think two possible scenarios:

Ideology is similar to it but this one would be a little extended version. Hence the "good people" at the end.

Summary
Apply to group here.
Group has two positions: cherries and poppers. Cherries are the target of giveaways, poppers are the ones who create them. Cherries are picked on certain criteria.
Please comment and criticize this idea. Does it have serious flaws, would you change something and is there any need for this at all?
Expanding above
My previous experiences in trying to gift certain group of people had some troubles. Mainly it was people who entered even if they did not meet the requirements. I thought for a while different approaches how to solve this. I personally do not really like the group option, but it seems to be the best one that is available.
Group would have two positions. Cherries are the people I would aim to give gifts by creating giveaways. Poppers are people who would create these giveaways. Idea is to gather people who would be deemed unlucky or nice people deserving chance of winning. Cherries are selected by meeting certain criteria that are given below. One can apply multiple times.
Cherries' main purpose in group is to achieve Golden Kick of Luck which is gained by winning. Winner will then be kicked from the group to open position for the next one. I'm still uncertain would it be better to only count wins inside group or any win in the site.
Poppers are people who would like to gift people having some of the qualities met in cherries. I would place no limit to their numbers. One could use this group as temporary filter (join for a giveaway and then leave) or hang in back and gift when you feel like it. Before a wall of leecher accusations appear, I notify that I would be placing myself as popper.
Idea is to have quite loose structure with very little forced activity to prevent needless re-rolling in every giveaway themed for these people.
