Legend of Grimrock key policy?

I can't find a direct link to the "humble store." Otherwise I see nothing on their site that says you can't do it. So technically from what I see, it's alright. (not that it necessarily makes it ethically alright). I'm pretty sure Loko made some kind of "thank you" post in a Grimrock giveaway where the description stated that it was a steam key and that the giver was using the DRM free game.

E: Ethically I think it's a bit borderline, rather see people support these guys straight up.

I think it's great to give away your steam copy =) I'm the first person to complain about things on here like solitaire lucid and bundle parts but to me this seems legit, I guess it's all a mater of opinion

Well, I bought one copy on steam, and have another copy ready to gift. Do I care I spent a few extra bucks? Probably not.

From your description it sounds like you're talking about buying the game once, giving away the Steam key and playing the DRM free version. That would be wrong. You're not given the key as a gift, just as an option for playing either way (through Steam or without it). If you give it away you should give away the DRM free option at the same time.

It's unrelated to submitting single keys from bundles. Single keys from bundles are morally fine, they're just not allowed on Steam Gifts. A lot of them are given here in the forum, though. As long as you already own the game or don't want to play it, there's no reason not to let someone else play it.

As most people said, i think its probably better if you dont do that. Dont know why but Indie companies (specialy the ones that do something good/diferent) deserve my respect, if it was an AAA title id say go for it.

They are using the Humble store front, but this isn't a Humble Bundle or fall under those guidelines. People can do whatever they want with their Steam key.

Edit: Oh, you mean gifting the DRM-free copy to other people? Yeah, that's definitely piracy. We can't tolerate piracy.

So the developer gave you an option to use steam version if you prefer steam or drm free version for a very low indie price and still you choose to screw them and give someone basically a pirated copy ?

Given that I'm one who is giving away grimrock in this way I have to admit I created it thinking: cool they gave me 2 copies of the game and since it seems selfish to keep both for me so let's give away the steam key! Never thought it in the way that it is one copy and 2 way of access it. I have misinterpreted what the page said in the excitement of buying the game. So if the giveaway has to be deleted, go ahead, sorry for the mistake.

Yeah, as tubberware observe in the comments of that giveaway, "Lack of DRM should not be abused"--especially for indie devs who are nice enough to give this to us.

I find the game interesting, but I did not enter it. I think the giveaway should be removed.
