Greetings community,

Few updates about the browser issues. It's still ongoing and we've been able to duplicate the issue. Currently working on resolving, and we apologize to everyone affected over the inconvenience. So far, if you're experiencing any of the following:

  • Unable to sync.
  • Unable to register, $0.00 account value error message.
  • Error messages asking to Switch profile to public.
  • Unable to login, even though you just did.

So far, solutions that have worked for us when we or others experience the issue:

  • Clear browser cache and cookies only for the Last Hour (Both Google Chrome and Firefox have this option).
  • Open up Private Mode in Firefox or an Incognito Window in Google Chrome.
  • Chrome: Follow these instructions to remove SteamGifts only cookies:

Options > Under the Hood > Content Settings > All cookies and site data > Search for "steamgifts.com" cookies, remove all of them.

If you've been using a different browser than normal to access SteamGifts because the one of choice doesn't seem to work properly, try using one of these quick fixes. We will keep everyone posted on updates.

-best regards

Error messages asking to Switch profile to public
For me it was helpful to refresh sync page (F5). Sometimes it needs to be done few times. Opera browser.

I never tried Opera, but people say it's slow. But Safari is the worst. My opinion, but Google Chrome is the best :)

Mozilla Firefox isn't bad, but I just don't like it.

P.S. I never had problems with Google Chrome...

Opera is anything but slow. Opera is actually tied neck and neck when it comes to speed with Chrome, and it does tons of things out of the box without installing third-party addons.

Opera is fantastic. Opera's been the secret to being quick enough for Blizzcon tickets a few years for us.

Oh yeah, right. My browser settings doesn't require ctrl+F5, but it will work for others.

I've been using Firefox to access Steamgifts for some days now, and I haven't run into any problems. Can't login on Chrome, though.

I can not sign in since more than a month, with Chrome. I use instead the porn mode to enter, with the SteamGifts addon enabled, but every time I have to login, I have to check my mail for the SteamGuard code.

Sadly, this is what I've been having to do as well. Since Firefox doesn't adhere to Windows DPI scaling, Chrome is really my best option on a big screen TV. I use Opera as well, without any problems yet. I also use Opera, but my precious extensions. D:

Thanks for the update. CTRL-F5 just worked to fix the sync page for me in Firefox.

Hmm, had the Switch profile to public error but pressing sync again fixed it.

Hrmm, IE is definately being a pain with this issue atm. I was able to force sync after fiddling with it post cache deletion, but even then, the first time didn't work.

I managed to trick Firefox, Chrome, and IE into allowing me to resync. Only after doing so with Chrome was my owned games list properly updated. The other two browsers only updated my groups list. Guess I will be accessing SG in Chrome with the enhancement add on from now on.

Just thought I'd mention for anyone still with this problem, I accidentally deleted every cookie ever and the problem fixed itself.

That usually happens. I wake up one morning and it's fine, only for it to start happening in the afternoon. Sometimes, Incognito mode is the only way I can browse the site, even after clearing all cookies.

cg is aware of the issue and is working towards a resolution.

The problem seems to be really on and off for me

Clearing cookies would work for a few hours or a few days, but it almost always just reverts back to being unloggable, and sometimes even clearing cookies wouldn't help.

Temporarily using Firefox to remedy this issue, though today it seems Chrome is working for me
