It feels wrong to not re-gift this if won now.

Being on this site sometimes makes us forget about how much more complex real life is compared to "problems" like re-gifters. I hope things are improving. Will check out the article when I wake up tomorrow (it's almost 4 AM here, time to go to bed...)

why a placeholder?

Because I haven't decided on the text yet. That's where starting a thread in the forum is supposed to help...

I did two giveaways initially and I wasn't really happy with the winners. I remember one had 30+ wins with 0 giveaways and he might have been scripting as well.

So I opted for a whitelist giveaway for the latter two games that I gave away. That's one option that you can look into.

I already use whitelist, groups, high-level, invite-only (and combinations of these) for limited audience giveaways, but I want to also continue and do some Level 1 (and even Level 0) giveaways. All I want is a better way to protect myself from bad users. An easy way to reroll if the user is a convicted serial re-gifter would have been perfectly fine, but unfortunately SG admins have a different opinion.

Well I recall that I once clicked the re-roll link for a giveaway and it had various options for you to select and none of them said "Re-gifter" or "Scripting" or "Too many wins without a giveaway".

I guess you will just have to stick to whitelist and groups for your level 1 and level 0 giveaways as well.

gl everyone with that giveaway, wont enter tough as its not my kind of game.
just wanted to leave behind that sgtools.info is not at all correct... i like my profile private and bc of that i didnt activate anything i won... at least thats what that site states. i sync every week and i activate everything afap ( ;D )

How do you expect people (e.g. creators of giveaways you win) to be able to verify that you activate all your games if your profile is private?

i dont expect ppl to be able. i expect people to trust the support and the synchmechanism of this site, which forces me to do that each week.
the only thing that can be "suspect" is if there is a giveaway i won that is "younger" than 1 week. else the synch would show that its not activated.

I don't see how support or the sync system prevent people from breaking the rules. Even with Level 4 giveaways a large number of my recent winners are rule breakers. If their profile was private there wouldn't be a way for me to check it.

if you dont sync you cant enter giveaways.
if you sync and you didnt activate a gift support will ban you.
breaking any other rule has nothing to do with a private profile.

Now wouldn't that be nice? Unfortunately that's not how it works in real life. Support doesn't get automatic notifications for un-activated games. They only get them from users who report other users for not activating their wins (hence breaking the rules). If you keep your profile private you are in practice preventing users from checking your previous wins, as requested by support.

if you didnt activate it and sync but click the receivedbutton it will also show on your sg-profile.
so the only thing you dont see if my steamprofile is private is the 1week period where i didnt sync.

but feel free to report me for having a private profile... or blacklist me right away

and something to think about..
how about people who have an open profile, still regift and buy the game after they won it. so they have the game, activated it and still regifted it. better force everyone to post their accountdetails somewhere.... you dont have anything to hide have you?

Then how would you explain the many users who have unactivated games but their profiles here don't show anything unusual?

I have nothing to report you for. You didn't win my giveaway and having a private profile is not against the rules. I'm also not going to blacklist you as long as we're having a discussion. That would be like saying the last word and then shutting everyone else up.

If a user who re-gifted a game buys it and activates it against their Steam account then as far as I'm concerned they are absolved (as long as their rap sheet is then clean).

Everyone has things to hide, but when it comes to my giveaway conduct I have nothing to hide. If you're asking about my two Not Received then I'd be happy to share the details in private. Doing it here will be against the no-calling-out rule. This thread will give you a hint on where I stand when it comes to taking the Not Received.

i think its your good right to be suspicious, nothing against that. even tough i myself wouldnt call for a reroll, if someone has a private profile im ok with that. imho support should then check that user and decide if a reroll is necessary, which i hope they do.
Also as your poll and the comments state, most people need a good reason for not sending a gift. (if someone would tell me "screw you" i would ask for a reroll too btw) And such reason includes more than a private profile :)

I honestly cant tell you why there are "many users with unactivated games" because i dont have any statistics to back up that claim. This site is mainly for giving away games to random people, and if someone random wins you basically should be ok with that, else maybe trade it or do whitelists ;). There are mechanisms to limit giveaways to certain groups of ppl. You cant do more than that, but suspecting everyone with a private profile to be rulebreakers is something i personally criticize.
But maybe write cg and ask to add an option to exclude all private-profile-users from giveaways. I dont think your alone with that wish and would reach a good amount of supporters for that. On how to do it.. thats another question.

And no thanks :) i didnt scoope through your profile nor need any proof. Your giving away games.. thats great :D I dont care if i m not the winner ;)

You do not have permission to comment on giveaways.
