Day 2
Second lesson learnt: Don't forget your initial motivations.
If you're good at something, keep working on it. Don't lose interest in the things you do, look for some time to dedicate them. This year, I kind of lost the interest in what I'm studying. I'm in my hopefully last year of Chemical Engineering, and neither the professors (with reading-a-presentation-like lectures) nor the presure that they impose have motivated me to keep studying. It's really hard to focus on something you don't enjoy, and it can be very discouraging. But when you're about to surrender, try to remember why you chosed to study what you're doing. It will help you remember your first motivations, which should never be forgotten despite the many difficult situations you have to face.
Many people haven't achieved their dreams because they forgot why they first started. Don't let that happen!

WELL so far your lessons are spot on for me. It took me six years to finish university, because I kept changing what I wanted to do. Now, a couple years later, I want to go back for my master's degree. In exactly the field I STARTED undergrad in. Not the one I finished.
Oops.

I think that part of the fault is on the universities too, at least in my country. The first two years are horrible in many degrees, just because they're used to "get rid" of te people who "don't have the level". And this can really discourage you, even if you're good at it, because you might feel that it's not what you were looking for. But it's good that you've decided to do a master's degree in the field that you started, I hope it goes well! :)

I agree about finding the strength to go on, but it's also important to know when to take a break or give up. People change, dreams change, reality changes. Sometimes, you also need to know when to let go and no longer fight a losing battle which is no longer important to you. :)

I absolutely agree with that, and was thinking to make another lesson about this. Just tried to say here that you should take into account the reasons why you started something, because reminding them can give you the strength to continue. Maybe something like don't let a tough path be the end of the way, because some paths need to be tough to get where you want. Obviously, if you don't feel motivated by these reasons anymore, there is no point on continuing fighting for it.
