I don't know what the US's take on Sinterklaas is..
Well, I've never seen any organized presence for it, or any indication that most Americans are even remotely aware of it, so.. not much of a take, it seems :/
One of the downsides (just one :P) of America's massive commercialization and promotion of 'key' holidays, is that other holidays tend to get pushed aside.
I imagine some dutch or german heavy communities might still celebrate it, though?
It's a huge country, after all :)

That's a good question! But I haven't celebrated St. Nicholas's Day in decades, so I'm not one to ask~ ^.^;

The Wikipedia article on the holiday in the US seems pretty in line with the general gist of how I recall it being in Germany, and seems to indicate that yeah, it's more of a 'celebrated in only a few cities' thing.
