I have played like 30 minutes of a Battlefront game on PS2 like 12 years ago, and I keep being told I'm missing out. Maybe I'll win this and get to play an older Battlefront game before the new one comes out. lol
I had a ton of fun playing BF and BF II on PS2 ages ago. Playing against someone was fun, but I still had a lot of fun playing single-player campaign, since it all has bots playing along anyways. I never had a chance to play it online, though. I imagine playing it with a bunch of other people would've been even better! I'm pretty there's still a way to play this one online.
The original multiplayer on PC was hosted by GameSpy, which has been shut down. However a quick search nets the result that something called GameRanger supports continued Multiplayer hosting for it, so the winner can still engage in some large scale MP battles using their free software.
