I really like Frankfurter Kranz, It nicely combines three things I like, buttercreme, red jam and Krokant... Though I think the german butter cream is different then in other countries...

In my experience (which is mainly based on watching others make it) most of it is not that complicated to make, the most annoying thing is that German butter creme usually contains cooked vanilla pudding (custard?) and you have to get the temperatures and timings, etc right while mixing it as it sometimes curdles...
Oh, the red fruits... Those often are some kind of cocktail cherry and in my experience those can be very divisive, but I like them 😊

This is my son's choice as well, with cream cheese frosting and some lemon overtones, so good.

I am not much of a dessert person and I mostly hate chocolate (I know, I'm a weirdo) but my grandma used to make an upside down rhubarb cake with little bits of white chocolate in it that was just to die for. In the winter she'd make it with quince.
